GROMO [or GRONSO] by Uncle Joseph BOWMAN as a wedding present Feb 24 1896." There are also what might have been dried rose petals between some pages, and a small newspaper clipping tucked in the blank family record section that reads, "To Mr. & Mrs. J.E. 18. Re: [BOWMAN] Re: BOWMAN-D Digest V01 #141 [1]
Don't know whether there's a connection but there are some similarities in our Bowman lines. Earliest records I have of my Bowman is that Adam or Daniel Bowman was born in Pennsylvania in 1772. Took his family to Muskingum County, Ohio around 1810. My Leonard Bowman and family went to Elkhart County, Illinois, about 1825, and to Iowa in 1847 - Madison and Shelby Counties. Passed down lore has it that they were English but lore isn't always factual. George Gildersleeve Email address paganel@teleport.com
