1. Re: [BOYD] Joseph Boyd of Patrick Co., VA and Russell Co., VA [1]
Michelle, I am a descendent of Joseph's brother, Hugh, and so your research on Joseph is very valuable to me. I have just sent a query to the Spruance Library in Doylestown, PA which is where many of these old records are kept. If there is any chance they would have something to help us find their parents I will go there and spend a day looking at the records. I live about 2 1/2 hours away, but that's a lot closer than your North Carolina! They have hours all day only on Saturday, so I'll

Members For our newer members (and it may apply our older members as well). While the BOYD@rootsweb.com List may be able to help you with many question about your Boyds, it may also be useful to be on the spouse name list/s as well PLUS the Location list. By location I mean that if your family lived in Sumter Co., Alabama go to that list. And if earlier generations came from Halifax County, Virginia go to that list. You may only need to go on these location list for short periods - week or month -

6. Re: [BOYD] Roy Boyd - Descendant of George and Isabella Boyd of Chester Co., PA [1]
Welcome to the list. You want Halifax County in Virginia near South Boston and Lawson Creek. You will need to work you way back from "my ggrandfather, Roy Boyd was married to Amanda Eveline Cave, nee Violett" I assume from your comments you know where and when Roy Boyd died. So were death certificates issued at that time? If not, try the local Newspapers to see if you can find his parents details. You are lucky there are 12-20 Boyd researcher on George and Isabella Boyd, but I am not sure how many a
7. Re: [BOYD] John G. Boyd, McNairy Co., TN [1]
Mike, I don't have the Cemetery records of McNairy Co., TN. I don't know John G. Boyd's full name. I will look into the 1790 census and see what comes up. I will also look for the book you suggest. 8. Re: [BOYD] Joseph Boyd of Patrick Co., VA and Russell Co., VA [1]
Michelle A very good statement of what you have found and what you think might be the situation. i) Your coment "Joseph Boyd of Burk Co., PA /Patrick Co., VA" - could/should your Burk Co be Bucks which was an original County or Berks Co which joins Chester and Lancaster Counties. If it is Bucks county it may mean that the father Joseph Boyd family came form the Irish Settlement in what later became Northampton Co. This is where the Rev Adam Boyd elder brother went:- This John Boyd went to the Ir
9. Re: [BOYD] Hi all Boyd family.doc - County Histories for Westchester Co., NY [1]
Below Phyillis mentions the book by Baird. Has or can someone volunteer to find this book and see if tell more about this John Boyd of 1678. Westchester was an Original county formed in 1685, so you would expect that this John Boyd and family to receive some mention. When talking about Ebenezer Boyd family and their move to Duchess County W. P. Boyd also mentions this book Mr Wm L. Blake of Carmel, Putnam Co., NY who was author of the "History of Putnam county, NY" in 1849 It may also be worth loo

Dear cousins, I believe genealogy causes you to either go blind or crazy. I KNOW it causes you to have a dirty house! Con, I have not ignored your questions, pasted below for reference. I have been searching for answers....for hours and hours and hours! Hugh and Joseph being brothers comes down to "because everybody says so." I have piles of other people's statements to that effect, but I know we need a document in hand. That will take more work on the part of those who can get to records

15. Re: [BOYD] John G. Boyd, McNairy Co., TN [1]
Gary Hopefully some on the list from TN or who has researched the NcNairy Co., TN area can tell you if there are Cemetery records available in that period. This aspect of the Internet is not used very well by many lists to try to pick or link into other people's research. Hopefully someone will be able to help you in that regard. Would the 1850, 1860 or 1870 Census give his full name? With the spouse family come from Edgefield Co., SC I would not be at all surprised that he is linked to one of the tw

17. Re: [BOYD] BOYD Digest, Vol 3, Issue 11 - Mary Polly Burnett's parents [1]
List, I'm getting frustrated with myself at this point. Please pardon me while I say I goofed again! We do believe Mary Polly Burnett's mother was Nancy Pendleton. I got that right. However, the statement that Pryor Pendleton was the witness of her marriage to John Burnett was wrong: Pryor Pendleton was the witness at Jonathan and Mary Polly Burnett Boyd's marriage. I have been rather anxious to get the information posted since it's been almost a year of gathering enough information to post. I guess
18. Re: [BOYD] The Joseph Boyds of Patrick County VA [1]
Michelle and List, > Regarding your question: "Why do you think that the Joseph Boyd you listed as born abt 1770-1780 is the son of a Joseph Boyd from Bucks County?" > > Good question. Here's my honest answer: For the albeit simple reason that family researchers, like Sharon, Sue and Charlene, who've been at it many more years than I, believe that Joseph of Bucks Co., PA was the father. More important, though, I've looked at the Boyds in Patrick County, VA censuses and other documents, e.g. James' Revo

20. Re: [BOYD] Peter Boyd, Oyster Bay, Queens Co., NY [1]
This is the first time that I have had a Boyd mentioned for Queens county, NY. It is an original County in NY. It is a "strange" migration form Mamaroneck, Westchester Co. NY to Queens Co. It appears that moved from further out of New York to be closer to the City when you would have expected the reverse movement of away from the city. There are these five Boyd families in the 1790 US Census in the next County to the NW of Queens co. - BOYD,James NY Co:New York Twp:Ny City Montgomery Wd BOYD,Georg

If so could this explain his movement about? Does anyone on ht elist have any experience with such early 1800's matters?
