Hi Terrence,
I have three generations of the descendents of the Reverend Richard
Bradford who ministered in Lower Canada around Abbotsford and Huntingdon in
the early 1800s. There are several hundred people in the tree. The
information is extracted from a book about him by a descendent, Grace D.
McGibbon. My GGF James Bisset from Aberdeenshire married Helen Melvina
Bradford in 1859 in Huntingdon.
The information is in a MSWord file. I will be happy to send it to you as
an e-mail attachment if you want

Dear list,
does anyone know anything of the firm or business of
"J. W. BRADFORD & SON, Wolverhampton", Staffordshire, England.
I have a piece of packaging that looks like a cardboard lid, about 12 inches
(300mm) square, about the size of a record.
I think the BRADFORDs were involved with engineering or supply of metal
bits, and the time would be roughly about 1890 to 1950, allowing it to be my
ancestor JWB, or an uncle.
Any more info would be greatly appreciated. Anyone related, I have info

I recently bought a printed copy of a sermon by "Rev. Mr. Alden Bradford, A.M., pastor of the Christian Society at
Pownalborough" published in Portsmouth, NH in 1801. The sermon was delivered on December 10, 1800. Obviously, this Alden
Bradford would probably have been born sometime between 1740 and 1780 and died sometime after 1800. Just passing along
another little tidbit....

I'm no expert, but my research on the Bradfords ends up in Yorkshire,
with the name being variantly spelled Bradforth or Bradfourth in the
14th century. This would seem to indicate a common etymological origin
with names like Gifford, Clifford and Stafford, which were - if I am not
mistaken - minor Norman families who took the Anglo-Saxon names of
locations in England shortly after the conquest. The earliest mention I
can find of the name was in an old copy of Cuttlers (sp?) New York

Hello everyone. Just wanted to let you know I've been up for the past 2
hours (since 12am) updating the homepage. The databases I got up were
for the Kern list (yes, I know it took me forever, and there is very
little info up on the Kern, even now, but better late than never!), but
there is also a new section at the bottom of the main index page for all
of you to read. It is a guideline of how to post messages to the list.
Not only is it for the list, but can be used for queries on message

I am going to SC, Sumter with Peter Sandlund to research the Thomas

in 1811 and Thomas, Jr. moved to Clarke co AL abt 1815 along with James
Savage (who married Thomas , Jr's dau Alice).

I am trying to find information on a Mr. & Mrs. J.B. Bradford who were
living in or near Beeville, Texas during the early 1900s. Mrs. Bradford's
maiden name may have been Dunn, in which case she had a brother named Henry
Crittendon Dunn. Or her maiden name may have been Logan in which case she
had a sister named Katie. Either way, she was of Irish descent. Her first
name may have been Florence. I know this is a lot of "maybe"s but all we
have to go on is one photograph and some very vague memories of what l

Hello everyone. I hate to say this, but the Bradford homepage is temporarily
down. Hopefully it will be fixed by 4pm EST today, but maybe not. I was
trying to update it on a different computer and made an error so all the links
from the menu page are broken. I don't have time right now to fix it, but will
try on my break at 3. The pages themselves are up, just the links to not work.
If you want to still use them, you can to to the main page and point the arrow
at the link. Mostly likely the destinati
