Hello everyone! I have seriously been working my butt off all weekend
on the rootsweb homepage. I have spent a total of about 20 hours on Sat.
and Sun working on it and now all day today (not counted in the 20
hours). I was going through the DAR lineage books on the ancestry
homepage (http://www.ancestry.com/ancestry/search.asp) and I got a great
idea for a new addition to the homepage...Military ancestors with the
surnames of my lists (below). Now, i have some info on Rev. war
Bradfords, but that
The following was picked up on the GREEN-L but after going to the
URL, I discovered many BRADFORD's on the list also. Check it
out!

My grandma was Decima Bradford b. 1908 Eastwood. Notts.
She had a cousin called Decima Bradford, and their grandmother was
Decima Bradford nee Redfern b.1846 Oakthorpe, Derbys.
Hello list. I added a section last night on the homepage just for
Bradford surname. If you go to the main homepage below at rootsweb, go
down the menu and you will see a link called "Bradford", click on in and
it will take u to the index, or you can go straight to the index by
going to http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~kshai/bradindex.htm That is the
page with the military info for Bradford. Good luck.

I don't know if this person was able to get a copy sent to the list

Hi! I'm new to the list, so i'll share what i have. The earliest Bradford i
have is Charles who married Nancy in i believe Fairfield Co. SC. Charles died
in 1829 or 1830, and some of his children including Nicholas and Richard
Joshua moved to Gwinnett Co. GA in 1823. I'm descended through both of these
two because Nicholas' son Isaac, and Richard's daughter Cynthia, married each
other (first cousins). I have a lot more information on Charles' children,
but i've missed place the information at the prese

Among the states in the Union, Tennessee figures most prominently
in the ancestry of Texans. In 1796, Tennessee was the 15th state
to enter the Union, but settlers had lived there since Colonial
times.
Tennessee has no 1790, 1800 or 1810 census records, so it is

This week's phrase is "uncommon common name" :) What this means is in
your line, if you have found any strange (or not so strange) names the
occur often, post it to the list. I don't necessarily mean names like
"John" or "William" (which is probably the most common male COVENTRY
name), but if there are maybe four out of 7 people in your line named
"Ezekiel" or "Jabez" (which is one in my Kendall line), then post those.
It IS ok if you want to post
Hi everyone:
This is my first posting to this list.
The family I'm stuck on is Charles H. Bradford and his wife, Eliza
Ledbetter. They were born in South Carolina (parents unknown). They
lived in Georgia, then Alabama before at least part of the family
settled in Erath County, TX in the Double Mountain area, near Lipan.
Charles died June 8, 1889 and Eliza died December 11, 1886. Both are
buried in Lipan, Hood County, TX.
Their children are as follows:
1) Mary Elizabeth Bradford born Aug 15 1836
2) Lucy
Am searching for info on Thomas Bradford NC.1760. died in 1840 in Coffe co.
Ga. He married Elizabeth Marshall b. 1768.Would like to find parents of
Thomas Bradford and Elizabeth Marshall.Had thought Mathew and Rhoda
Marshall were parents of Elizabeth but, they aren't.Both buried in Ga. in
Coffee Co.
Bartholomew Arthur (1725-81) served as a private in Capt. Charles Mill's
company under Brig.-Gen. David Waterbury. He was born in Ireland; died
in Conn..
His son:
Richard Arthur (1745-91) served as private, 1776-78, in the Conn.
militia under Capt. Ralph Stoddard and Capt. Thomas Wheeler. He was born
and died in Groton Mass. and died in Westfield Mass..
Richard Arthur was married to HANNAH BRADFORD (1741-1815), they were
married in 1771.
After Richards death Hannah Bradford Arthur and her children moved to
Well, as with many Bradfords, I have a plethora of Williams, although I
have a string of 6 named William Josiah starting in 1799...
There were two - maybe 3, according to rumor - Theron Bradfords in my
line. Not a common name at all. The reason I say there may be 3 is
that my father's cousin saw a Theron Bradford playing football in
Colorado decades ago. He assumed it was a relative, and I would too,
since Theron is a fairly uncommon name. Unfortunately, they never met..

Thank you so much for this info. It certainly helps ease my frustration with

My great grandmother was named Mahulda Bradford, her daughter was also
named Mahulda (Marshall) and a granddaughter was named Hulda for the two
previous ones.
Does this name qualify?
Hello lists. I have seen some of the posts so far on the "uncommon
common" names and I think some people have misunderstood what it is I
was trying to get people to post. I didn't mean for you to post your
most uncommon name, I was trying to get people (which most of you have
basically so far) to post uncommon names that reoccur in your lines.
Like the example I used with Jabez, which is not that common, the line
started out with Jabez, his son was also Jabez(2), and the grandson of
Jabez(2) was a
Another family member has reported to me that brothers Theron and
William Merritt Bradford of Cortland County NY both served in the Union
Army as physicians. Their father, William Josiah Bradford, was an
active abolitionist, but he was too old to serve in the army during the
Civil War. I've been unable to locate any source that might confirm the
brothers' military service - does one exist?

Using the Dumfries-Gallway web page as the example, I suggest that we add a
'where migrated from / to " section to the web page. The way it would work
would be to post the name / lived at / moved to / date range /
So for example if I knew that my grandfather was born in Scotland and later
moved to Ontario and was tiring to make connections with families who
already knew they had a relative in Scotland then we could begin to
communicate this way. Here would be the posting on the web page:
