Hi "cousins"
An article has been brought to my attention which has been transcribed and
is available (by invitation) to be viewed on a myfamily.com site. The
article is a wonderful account of a family in Georgia who owned and operated
a rice plantation.
Extract follows...
"...The property located along the
Altamaha River between Darien and Brunswick, was first acquired in 1806
by William Brailsford who moved to the Georgia Coast from Charleston to
grow rice on a plantation he named Broadfield. After his dea

Hi everyone
I know that you have all heard from me before, but I thought perhaps I should tell a little about myself.
I have been researching my maiden name BORDEN in Australia since I was 15 (nearly 20 years), but with more time off than on! This resulted in a database of 2935 individuals and 2115 families of descendants of my great great grandfather. I have now linked in with other people's research via internet research, which takes the name from USA to England back to 1066 and ties me in with common
Hi Listers
Browsing through my Brailsford file, it occurs to me that it's ironic that our Brailsford ancestor should be a rare example of an Anglo-Saxon lord retaining his property after the Norman invasion - and yet Coneygree, or Coney Green Farm, has recently been sold by Bowaters to a French company.
Kind regards
Joy
Hi Rod,
Thanks for your offer of looking into the Bramley Apple. Perhaps you could
put that on hold until we hear back from Brenda. Then we will know if any
follow up is required.
I think Brenda was saying that she knows of a connection between the Bramley
Apple and the family name of Brailsford. Is that right Brenda?
Unfortunately we don't have Bramley Apples in Australia. I guess they're the
best????
Kerrie
Dear Brenda,
Thanks for the extra names, I'll send out an extra email this afternoon to
those I missed. I received one slightly rude email back from those I tried
to contact last time, and some I haven't heard back from at all. I hope I
didn't offend too many people, because that certainly wasn't my intention,
and I apologise now if anyone else thinks I have been unethical about this
at all. So it might be just the eight of us for the time being.
I don't know of "an email address for a Mrs Pat Pomeroy wh

Hi List,
I have a number of reference documents that may be of interest to this list.
I am willing to do look-ups of individuals if required. However note the
caveats on the individual items below. The things I have are:

Hello everybody,
I am a new subscriber to the Brailsford list. I am 50% Brailsford as that was my mother's maiden name.
Her father was Ernest b1885 in the Mansfield District.
His father was Charles Herbert b 1863 in Whitwell.
His father was Edward b 1840 in E Retford who married Eliza from Whitwell probably about 1863.
His parents appear to be Joseph & Martha who he was with in 1841, however , in 1851 he was with Hercules & Martha. He was christened as son of Joseph & Martha. I have found Hercules christene

Here they are, for what they're worth. I transcribed them a couple of years

most welcome...

As far as I know, the original "Bramley" apple tree was in the garden of a Bramley family in Southwell, Notts, near to Southwell Minster.
I'm in touch with people researching the BRAMLEY's, if you're interested, I'll see if they have anything further. (Please contact me if you do, if not, I'll assume it's not required.

A brief introduction. Firstly thanks to Kerrie for setting up this list.
I have a very small connection way way back.
A daughter of a Jeremy Brailsford of London married into my Kniveton line of
Derby back in the 1500s.
If anyone is searching around that time, I would love to hear from you,
Regards,

I am amassing information relating to the Brailsfords in Mansfield, Notts
from around 1829 onwards.
William Brailsford b. 1806 Sheffield
James Brailsford b. 1836 - Mansfield
Thomas Brailsford b. 1859 - Mansfield m Lucy Eyre
Minnie Beatrice Brailsford b. 1896 - Nottingham
All the above are my direct grandparents, all of the families were fairly
large, if you are searching for a Brailsford in Notts then e-mail me, I will
see what info I have.

Hi listers,
I'm hoping to get access to 1881 census records next week. If anyone wants specific lookups on the BRAILSFORD or related names, please post a message to list. Give as much detail as possible... approx age in 1881, place of birth, place of residence, family members, in-law's surnames. I had a quick look today, and there are over 300 BRAILSFORD names, so I won't have time to transcribe all of them! but I might do a few to post to list.
I've also ordered two 1871 census films for CLAYCROSS / CLAY
Hi everyone,
Some exciting news! With the info explained below, I have most likely
confirmed that my husband's gg grandfather is Greg Latham's wife's ggg
uncle! Does that make us "cousins"?
I have access to the 1871 census for Clay Cross, Derby, for the next couple
of weeks, from the LatterDaySaints. Film numbers are 839779 & 839780. They
include other Ashover areas and some Hognaston. I've booked in for two hours
next Tuesday to browse. If you have any none-BRAILSFORD names that you would
like me to chec

Hi Norma,
I went to the National Library in Canberra, Australia today and did some

weren't allowed back in! So I still need to try to see some more sources,

Mary Ann was the eldest daughter of Henry Brailsford and Priscilla, nee
