4. Re: [BRE] COB history [1]
I checked the Houser Genealogy book and did not find a Mary Ann Houser married to Justinian Mayberry. However, the first person listed in this book is Abraham Houser, Sr. born in Germany about 1740. According to this source, Abraham came to America with two brothers (Jacob & John) and settled first in Maryland. He married Nancy Rhorer in 1770 and they had 12 children. Abraham was a preacher. I believe this book is the source for the story of how "he refused to accept any pay or remuneration for

12. Re: [BRE] re: West family [1]
Barb, I've been going page-by-page in the Washinton Co PA Census -- now in 1860. I did see some WEST names but I don't remember which TWP. Fortunately I've only done East Bethlehem (I think they might have been in East?), West Bethlehem, Amwell, Strabane (maybe here??), and now Somerset. At least it is not ALL of Washington's twps. if you wanted to look--- But, still it's over a couple hundred pages to go through. Judy

Marcy Thank you for your suggestion. I've been to the Jackson Co website. None of the people who do lookups listed church info which is what I'm looking for right now. I was really hoping that someone on this list would have church history and membership information available. I will be in Iowa this fall and will do more county history, etc. research then. It is so frustrating, because county histories seldom mention groups of emigrants who traveled together from one place to another. I know, I've ch
