There is no need to appologize. You still may not be wrong.
I feel like I am going around in circles. There are too many answers to each
problem. In their extensive work, "The Clappers in America", Engel and
Helsel did not come to a specific conclusion at first, but later strongly
supported the story that Ludwig Clapper was married to several women.
P. 194, In 1794 Ludwig had married his first wife Mary Metzger, daughter of
John and Catherine Metzker Sr. To Ludwig and Mary were born four children,
etc."
In answer to a quiry, Ferne said her info had it that the Susannah Ulrich that married Jacob Puterbaugh was the daughter of Daniel Ulrich, the son of Stephen.
Merle wrote that Susannah was the daughter of a Daniel, but the Daniel who married Christena Holsinger (Holdinger). I have it that he was the son of Daniel and Catharine. This info came from Don Bowman.
Which parentage is correct ??
Dick
In commenting on second marriage of John Ulrich recently, I erroneously
reported that John's second marriage was to Elizabeth Stiffler Ulrich. I have
no idea where I got the "Stiffler" info. In looking back I find it nowhere.
My records clearly show it was Elizabeth Brumbaugh Clapper, first married to
Ludwig Clapper who was son of Henry Clapper who was married to Mary Metzger.
Sorry about that error. Wanted to clarify before anyone considered that info
correct.

I'll probably step on a few toes, but there is a rather large difference in
some of the beliefs of these churches. The German Reformed church was a part
of the Evangelical movement in Gwermany as is traditional in the sense of
children's baptism.
The German Baptist church was of the schisms of the faith that believed in
what is termed "anti-baptism". In other words, baptism should be performed
when the person is old enough to know what he/she is obligating
himself/herself to.
I have two books one on the history of Gove County, Kansas (includes
Quinter) and another on the history of the Church of the Brethren,
Quinter, Kansas. In the second book on page114 is a picture of a church
taken from about the same position and matches the church in your picture
with people. It is labled, Church of the Brethren at Quinter, Kansas
completed, 1910.
This is the church my Flora and Ikenberry were members.

Thank you Merle,
I haven't researched the Ikenberrys back this far YET!
I connect to them at George Samuel Ikenberry who married Sally Wine in
the late 1800s.
Thank you for the info!

Also be aware that if the book you are wanting is not available for shipment
to you, if you tell the library who or what you are looking for in the book,
they will usually Photostat the pages or even chapters pertaining to that
person/persons. The cost can get up there as they charge by the page, but if
you need the information, and that is the only place you can find it, it is
worth it. Don't forget to have them Photostat the title page and the page
with all the information on it. (ISBN, Library of Congres

Puterbaugh.
