Hi Joanna (and 'Hi' to the List), After compiling a Family Tree,last year, for a friend whose surname is Bryson, I became interested in the name & recently started a study of all Bryson/Brysen/Bryceson/Brisson (etc)'s in Scotland. Unfortunately, I haven't downloaded the IGI info for Lanarkshire (yet); but, having already looked at the census info for quite a few Bryson families around the rest of Scotland, I would say that a reasonably high percentage of male Bryson's were weavers.
