1. Re: [BRYSON] Samuel H. BRYSON b.1847 & Sarah M. McKnight of Wilson Co., Cannon Co., and Murfreesboro Tennessee to Texas after Civil War [1]
Anne... I had seen the site for the family of Sarah McKnight.... but thanks so much for the reply. Samuel Harrison Bryson was called "Sam". If he was referred to as Shan, that was a mistake. Shan Bryson was their son. His name was actually MacShannon (Shan) Bryson. He was named for his grandfather Shannon McKnight...a play on the name produced Mac for Mc and Shannon for his first name... I actually have a photo of Shan Bryson, and am wondering if another that I have is Sam and Sarah Bryson. That's

Billie - My records show that Robert Bryson (1811) was the son of William (Samuel 1754-1835) and Martha Bogle (1755) and his #1 wife unknown. I highly recommend Marty Grant's web site (martygrant.com) for the complete Bryson line.
3. [BRYSON] Samuel H. BRYSON b.1847 & Sarah M. McKnight of Wilson Co., Cannon Co., and Murfreesboro Tennessee to Texas after Civil War [1]
Samuel Harrison (Sam) Bryson b.1847 (parents Robert Bryson b.1811 Wilson Co., TN and Sarah Stanley b. 1813 TN) and Sarah M. McKnight were married 1870 Cannon Co., TN. --- Robert Bryson b.1811 was on the 1880 Cannon Co., TN census age 69 along with wife Sarah B. age 68. Sam & Sarah Bryson left Murfreesboro, TN shortly after the Civil War and settled on a ranch near Wortham, Freestone County, TX. Some notes I found stated that Sam was the son of Major Bryson and Sarah was the daughter of Shannon McKnight.

Jennie... Thanks so much for the reply. I have looked at Marty Grants page and he only lists information up to Robert Bryson b.1811. I am really more interested in the children of Robert... one of his sons, John A. Bryson b.1838 Cannon Co., TN was my gr-gr-grandfather. John A. Bryson's son, (my gr-grandfather) Gideon P. (G.P.) Bryson left Cannon Co., TN about 1895 and moved to Texas. Gideon P. Bryson's uncle, Samuel Harrison Bryson (son of Robert Bryson b.1811) had already moved to Texas to the same ar

There is an ancestry for Sarah McKnight given at http://members.nbci.com/tnsurnames/html/fam00383.htm (Tennessee Connections Database) I've also seen Samuel Harrison Bryson referred to as "Shan". The only child for who I have a name is McShannon Bryson.
