There is a new page on the FGS website dedicated to Records Preservation and
Access. They are still looking for volunteers to work on this page and keep
it updated. When fully operational and up to speed this will be
9 Oct 1908 reported in the Dothan Eagle, Alabama: E. C. Bunker has accepted
a position with the Abberville light plant and will begin his duties there
next week.
This is the only news report of a Bunker in Alabama but I have no clue who
E.C. Bunker might be. Does anyone recognize this man?

Dear Mike,
I must have missed a message - I don't remember one about Plymouth County.
The original Dover Line of Bunkers shows up in Plymouth, England, area.
Actually, Slapton, Devonshire, England.
He settled in Dover, NH.

To help celebrate the Yukon Rush Centennial in 1996,
the 1901 Directory and Gazetter was republished
with the 24,200 who were in/around Dawson City.
Only 3 Bunkers were there: George D in Council City;
George D in Nome and Solomon, also in Nome. There is
no mention of A.L. Bunker in the directory. (See BunBan p.934).

Cousins,
I have another case of CRS (can't remember stuff).
Some told me about their father? (grandfather?) who
had a school named for him. Is this the one?
Pls contact me.
I had to change from MS Outlook to MS Outlook Express,
and I'm not sure this msg is going to the entire list.
I could use at least one conformation.

I have absolutely no problem accepting all known dates as correct. The
approximate date of 1628 could indeed be his date of Birth; the baptism
in Slapton in 1633 could very well have happened when he was about 5
years old - perhaps because he was actually born in some country town
away from Slapton; the service on the jury of 1646/7 would be certainly
feasible if he were 18 years old - no other machinations need explain
that because he'd be old enough. I don't see a great problem in
accepting it all.
Susie is talking about the area where the Bedfordshire Bunkers come from.
The descendants of the American George's from Nantucket and Charlestown come
from this area. I thought the rest of the list would be interested. Thanks
Susie. I was certainly interested. Bette

Dear Hal,
Many thanks for your reply; I'll send it on to the Bunker mailing list.
One of our members did find a birth certificate for Benjamin4, son of
Benjamin3 and Abigail ADAMS, so that may be the documentation we need -
or at least the most documentation we're going to find.

There seems to be some interest in this family. It appears that Robert
Bunker was born in either New York or New Jersey about 1814 and married
Permilla Harris about 1841 probably in Canada. He lived in Hamilton,
Ontario and Winnipeg, which is in Manitoba. You are going to have to find
some sources in Canada to learn more about them. Your best bet is to start
with http://www.cyndislist.com and go to her links for Canada. The 1881
Canadian census shows Robert age 66 b. USA, farmer with Permilia age 56 b.
Dear Bette,
Thank you for this message - you've sent us some really good information.

I am sending this to the list as others may have some good ideas too. Mary
Ann Thompson unfortunately missed the two most important census' taken in
her life time, 1850 and 1880. These were the ones that listed all the
household members. She might appear on the 1851 Canadian census but I do
not have access to that. You might find it by searching the internet and

I tried several variations. Most Goebels I found in Indiana and in the Ft.

shooting of William Goebel in Ky. He was an Indiana native though I believe
and was shot by a senator when William ran for Gov. Interesting.
I found in the Ft. Wayne, IN paper 4 Sep 1900 an obituary for Mrs. Mary

I have looked through THE CONNECTED BUNKERS by Jessie Bunker Bryant which is
about Chang & Eng and their descendants. I find no reference to any
descendant that may have lived in either England or Australia. Many served
in WWI and WWII and may have passed through but they all seem to be
accounted for pretty well. There is a possibility that one of the sons of
James Henry, son of Patrick, gson of Eng may have gone to England. Their
names were Robert Henry and John Henry Bunker. They were born sometime

Recently, another correspondent wrote telling me that their computer crashed
and they lost all their data. I was as usual happy to provide the Bunker
data for her. However, this always reminds me to back up everything and do
it often. I lost all my data once too. It was backed up and all I had to
do is reload it.
Presently I have a zip drive on which I can load my data and pictures which
are numerous. The pictures take up lots of room no matter where I store
them.

Maude E. Bunker (RN7120) appears numerous times in the Fayetteville,
Arkansas Daily Democrat between 1921 and 1924. Her father, Herbert E.
Bunker, had died in Lodi, Wisconsin, in 1912 and her sister had died in
1904. Maude and her mother Marian A. (Roberts) Bunker moved to Fayetteville
and in 1921 Marian bought land there. After Maude's death in 1927, Marian
returned to Lodi, Wisconsin where she passed away in 1936.
While in Fayetteville, AR Maude was the supervisor for University High

Of course, I search with soundex but soundex does not always pick up all the

Aren't you able to search using Soundex? In my opinion,
It appears that the Bedfordshire Bunkers do not match the Devon Bunkers.
This means that James of Dover, NH was NOT related to either of the George's
that settled in America in the 1600's.
We need more male Bunkers to join in the DNA tests so that we can confirm
our findings. So far we have had test results back from only 9 men.
However, we have learned that James of Dover was related to the Bunkers in
Rattery and in Modbury, Devon, England. They were not related to the
Bedfordshire Bunkers. At least on
To see the distribution and migration of people of your surname in the
census records try these two sites: http://www.last-names.net and
http://www.hamrick.com/names For the last one click on all years and watch
the map change from one census to the next. Pretty cool. This can also
help you eliminate places where your ancestors quite probably did not live
and save you wasted research time in those areas.
I'm sure most of you know that you can just go to MSN.com and other sites
and click on white pages
