9. [BUTLER-L] Re: BUTLER BOOK [1]
Edna, There may be more than one place where the book "The Butlers of County Clare" can be obtained, but one of them is The Butler Society of North America, P.O. Box 1095, East Douglas, MA 01516. I would suggest that you might want to join the Society, the annual fee is only $20. Tom Butler
10. [BUTLER-L] Ships Logs [1]
Edna -- At the family center in Salt Lake City, there's a whole shelf of books clustered together that deal with the ship lists. Between the information you have already and the volunteers at the center, you'll do FINE!! By the way, though I'm not a member of the LDS church, I still appreciate tremendously and greatly respect the effort the church puts into the family centers -- and they make it available to EVERYONE for just the cost of copies!! And the volunteers!!! That's so wonderful and if ther

13. [BUTLER-L] Re: John R. or D. Butler b. KY 1813 or ca. 1810-1815 [1]
I'm still desperately looking for the parentage of a John R. or D. BUTLER, censuses usually say he was born in KY ca. 1813, though there is some "slop" in that number over the years, so anytime 1810-1815 is a possibility. One source says OH for a birthplace and another TN, too. We first pick him up marrying Susannah HEMBREE in 1840 in Dubois County, IN. In case this might give someone a clue, here are his kids' names, in order: William H.H., ca. 1842, IN or MO Sarah E., ca. 1843 IN George A., 1846, IN or

18. [BUTLER-L] confusion [1]
Hello Lee Ann, I suffer from the same confusion that you do. I don't know how it is suppose to be done. Originally, I was told (I think) to contact the individual and not send all the messages through BUTLER-L@rootsweb.com, but seems that would defeat the purpose of everyone getting the information. That was when the BUTLER-L was owned by someone else. My thinking is that it all should go through BUTLER-L@rootsweb.com with the first line of the text brought to the attention of the person the info

I visited the National Archives and Records Administration: http://www.nara.gov/nara/searchnail.html and used their NARA Archival Information Locator (NAIL) I made quite a few hits on my surnames ROACH, McClendon, Butler, Wilson, Edwards, Simons alone - there are quite a few criminal cases (ARKANSAS court circuit) and DAWES case files. I remember reading where someone was trying to prove Cherokee ancestry - this might help. Below is a brief explanation of the Dawes Commission. Commonly called the Co
