I am looking for information on the Butlers in MN around 1790. There is
supposed to be a land record for Williamson Butler somewhere in Mn between
1790 and 1799. I believe this Williamson Butler may be realted to my Butlers
who went from TN in 1830 to AL in 1840 to AR in 1850. Any help at all would
be appreciated!

Thank you for enrolling me anyway. I tried using the subject address but

Hi - hoping for a miracle!
I am looking for any information about EDWARD BUTLER who was granted
land in Northern Bay, Newfoundland in 1790.
Anyone have any idea where I may get information about Edward? I

Edna,
There may be more than one place where the book "The Butlers of County Clare"
can be obtained, but one of them is The Butler Society of North America, P.O.
Box 1095, East Douglas, MA 01516. I would suggest that you might want to join
the Society, the annual fee is only $20.

At the family center in Salt Lake City, there's a whole shelf of books clustered together that deal with the ship lists. Between the information you have already and the volunteers at the center, you'll do FINE!!
By the way, though I'm not a member of the LDS church, I still appreciate tremendously and greatly respect the effort the church puts into the family centers -- and they make it available to EVERYONE for just the cost of copies!! And the volunteers!!! That's so wonderful and if ther
Hi Researchers,
This isn't my line that I know of, but if anyone is related to W.E. Butler,
died Jan. 2, 1948, born at Starville, Texas, 1860, to Jesse Samuel Butler
and Mary Locke. He had one son, Samuel W. Butler, and a sister Mrs. L.C.
Harrison. This is in an obituary I found. If anyone would like to have
it, just e-mail me personally.

Margaret BUTLER born 1868 at Torbay, Newfoundland..Married Thomas DRUKEN
1-12-1891 at Holy Trinity Parish, Torbay, Newfoundland..Died 6-10-1946
at Middle Cove, Newfoundland..
Margaret's parents were Richard BUTLER and Margaret (?)..
The ancestors of this BUTLER family originated in Ireland, coming to
Newfoundland before 1800..
..I would like to hear from fellow BUTLER researchers looking in this
area..Anyone?
Claudia..
I'm still desperately looking for the parentage of a John R. or D.
BUTLER, censuses usually say he was born in KY ca. 1813, though there
is some "slop" in that number over the years, so anytime 1810-1815 is
a possibility. One source says OH for a birthplace and another TN,
too. We first pick him up marrying Susannah HEMBREE in 1840 in Dubois
County, IN. In case this might give someone a clue, here are his
kids' names, in order:
William H.H., ca. 1842, IN or MO
Sarah E., ca. 1843 IN
George A., 1846, IN or
I have Butler's in AR and one of the names is Thomas Butler., born in l812,
either in NC or KY, I'm not sure.
Could you send me your names in AR and their date of birth? I'll check them
with mine and see if there is a connection and get back to you.

For Sharon Saracino,
In your search for your William Butler in Luzerne County, have you come across
anything regarding a William R. C. Butler who was born about 1824 and lived in
Luzerne County at the time of the 1880 census with his wife Sarah (Fields) and
daughter Justine? If so, please let me know as I am looking for information
on him with no success so far.
Thanks,
CJ
Hello Lee Ann,
I suffer from the same confusion that you do. I don't know how it
is suppose to be done. Originally, I was told (I think) to contact the
individual and not send all the messages through BUTLER-L@rootsweb.com, but
seems that would defeat the purpose of everyone getting the information.
That was when the BUTLER-L was owned by someone else. My thinking is that
it all should go through BUTLER-L@rootsweb.com with the first line of the
text brought to the attention of the person the info
I found a reference at the library to a book titled "The Butlers of County
Clare" by Sir H. Butler Blackall. Does anyone know of this book and where it
could be obtained?
Thanks

I made quite a few hits on my surnames ROACH, McClendon, Butler, Wilson,
Edwards, Simons alone - there are quite a few criminal cases (ARKANSAS court
circuit) and DAWES case files. I remember reading where someone was trying
to prove Cherokee ancestry - this might help. Below is a brief explanation of
the Dawes Commission.
