Any help appreciated.--Marla John Seaton - Born ca. 1772, married Sarah Bird 28 Dec 1793 Greene Co., (John Bird Lic). (personal belief is he was born before 1777(ie,1772 according to one source; probably Va.)

Marla, It could have been that Thomas Byrd was out of the area and assigned Samuel Patterson to handle his affairs. I have found that several times in the Virginia's and N.C. area when it was not convenient to travel distances.
