Yes, seems correct to me: E 156 would be the Bronx and W 30th is
Manhattan. For details on Catholic Churches, contact the Archdiocese at

new archives center, located in Yonkers.

PS I'm still trying to get caught up on many other messages, but will be

Hi Udo,
For clarification, note that there are two distinct and separate events on
October 8 and 9.
Yom Kippur begins at sundown on Sunday, 10/8 through sundown on Monday.
This is a religious holiday.
Monday is also Columbus Day, to celebrate Columbus' "discovery" of
America. There will be a parade along Fifth Ave, but, as I mentioned
some time ago and again this weekend, the parade will take a detour to
keep crowds away from those who wish to worship. For details,

Hi all,
In the headlines this weekend were two shootings at two busy shopping
districts in the Bronx. I don't have many details, but 3 people waiting
to enter a movie theater at Bay Plaza were shot by three gunman who sped
away. Also, on Fordham Road, a teenager was shot by police after pointing
a gun at undercover officers.
I have mentioned IPN911.net here in the past, and this weekend they were
first to report what became the top local story today. At about 10 pm
last night, the following bulletin wa
Greetings all,
The top local story at this moment is the melee at a block party on White
Plains Road near 240th Street. Details have not yet been posted to the
local news web sites as of 11am, but here's a recap of what has been
reported thus far:
Eight people - including a child - were shot, one fatally, one person was
stabbed and another was hit by a car. Police report that at least three
guns were used.

Greetings all,
In reply to the message about why there has been such an upturn in the
murder rate for the 47 precinct...
Most of it is drug related. The drug gangs that cover the area are known
to be very violent. There has been a major effort to reduce crime in the
Bronx, with the old 41 precinct being used as the headquarters for this
initiative. The drugs that are being pushed in the 47 area is mostly
marijuana, and not a high priority on the drug task force. In addition,
overall crime in the 47 is

Most of it seems OK -- value, year built, living and lot areas all seem
ok. The number of stories reported has a tendency to revert to 1 for some
reason. The site is new and still being tested.
Here's another new site I just heard about -- the NY Public Library is
testing a way to check out books via the internet. Well, they do have
self service checkout stations, but how does THIS work? Easy. The book

The MTA currently uses what it calls 'Platform Conductors' at many busy

conductors less to do as well -- the new trains have all pre-recorded
announcements. All that is left for personnel to say is special

Just thought I would pass along some more news...
With Verizon now on strike, an unexplained outage has left thousands
without telephone service in the Bronx. I have seem some of the
management teams looking into the problem, but no word yet on what caused
the problem nor how long before repairs can begin.

Bill Bratton, a former NYC Police Commissioner announced his desire to
