Hello
My 1842 assessment roll has the entry '3 years in Canada'.
I am looking for the original UK immigrant VIPOND family.
Could someone please tell me if they know of any early records from 1830's Ancaster.
Thanks
Ken
Sorry No Lemon or Triphena so far in my listings. What a pair of handles!
I'll keep looking.

Lemon must be Lyman. I have some Lyman's in my family and it was strangely
popular.

Hi Nelson,
Noticed you had a great number of Kitchens and some from Townsend area of
Norfolk County.
I am looking for information on Lemon (sic) Kitchen c 1847 d 5 Mar 1912 and
his wife Triphena Lefler (in my line)c 1854. They were married 27 Oct 1874
in Watertown, Norfolk Co.
Children that I know of are no special order:
Frank, Ernest, Jesse, Clayton, Henry, Florence & Elizabeth.
Anyone researching these Kitchens?

Thanks for the help. I have access to the Christian Guardian references so will check them out. Henry KITCHEN is one of my direct maternal ancestors. He had a slew of children so she could, indeed, be one of the grandchildren.

I'm sorry that I am so late getting back. I work on the weekend and it
takes me about a day to come alive again.
thank you I only have the 1871 census . in that my grandfather was about 8
years old, plus another brother had been born. I didn't have the kind of
house they lived in though. i have never learned how to navigate the
census very well I know there must be more information in them than I have
gleaned.
What I haven't done though, is proven the information that I received then.
Vivian,
This is a tough period for Ancaster research, or even for Upper Canada. What was it that you wanted
to know? It's unlikely that you'll find more than this, apart from Mr Miller's records of St John's
Church that stop in 1838.

I can not find information in Ancaster's Heritage about this woman - admittedly this doesn't mean much. In terms of age,
she could be a granddaughter of Henry Kitchen who lived at lot 25/1 in Ancaster (Reuben Drake lived at 19/2 - not too far
away.
There are no pre-1858 wills in Ontario for the Kitchens.
I think the best bet might well be to go to Toronto to the United Church of Canada Archives and consult the index to the
"Christian Guardian". An obit for either of the Drakes might mention her parents
Please take the Annals of the Forty with a grain of salt. I have all 10
volumes but some of the information is incorrect. My Cline line is in one
volume and almost every single fact included is WRONG!!!
Regarding Kitchen I have some of the William Kitchen line. He was the
original immigrant from NJ. IBut no Lemon or Triphena.

Hi list,
I am not researching the KITCHENS. I have found 2 books very useful for name
indexes. i just want to share what I know. The books are " LOYALISTS
1793-1993" AND " ANNALS OF THE FORTY". These are great books to refer to. I hope
this helps. kathleen from Stoney Creek,On
I've got a bunch of KITCHENS on my list (250,000 kith and kin). They seem to
have come from Bucks Cty. Penns. and settled all over the area. They go back as
far as 1635 as far as my notes tell me.
( this research comes from others so I don't know how accurate it is)
I've got a Sarah Kitchen born 18 May 1829 in Townsend, Norfolk Ont. ( that's
near Jarvis/Port Dover)
Parents John Green Kitchen 17 Sept 1794 Northumberland Co. Pa.- 4 Aug 1872

I am looking for any early information on Isaac and (hopefully) Elizabeth VIPOND.
After 1842 all records concern their one child and they have disappeared.
If I could find them at all it would help me back in the UK.

There is no record of this family in the Census for Ancaster of 1861. They must have moved by then. However, it's still
likely worth checking adjoining townships, although a lot of work. Barton, Beverly, Glanford, West Flamborough, as well as
the town of Dundas. You might also look into Brant County on the east.
I don't have information on those townships.

I am new on the list; and I may be getting a little ahead of my self.
I might possibly have my great grandfather living in Ancaster. But I can't be sure. In the 1871 census I have a Joseph TAYLOR age 55 with his family of 6 children. The children male names are family names. My Grandfather is the William and the age coincides with his birth. In 1871 census my Great-Grandfather Joseph Taylor is a waggonmaker. The next time I find him is at the age 67 living with a family named CORNELL. I he
