If you write them they will answer and give you a nice little computer
printout of the information they have....one of the nicer cemeteries I've
dealt with by mail

You can call that cemetery. They have an office with normal business hours.
Pat is very helpful. The records were lost to fire, but they have done a
fantastic job of reconstructing them. They started with memory and
headstones, and have gathered records from obits, family members, etc.
Anyone who has family members buried there is asked to send their
information, and they send what they have. The result is that when you call
to ask for information, often you get the most complete informati
Hi Donna,
This has been a very exciting month for me. My original information came
from a post Sherry put on the Butte Co. queries. As a result of that I
received more information from some other Moomaw researchers. Thank you so
much for checking on this! No, Sherry is not related but she does have
notebooks from Belle Toll Conlin which relates a lot of family information.
She has already forwarded what she has transcribed so far. The information
you have was not included in hers. Wow, at the beginni
I am looking for information on a Crago that was suppose to have been killed
by a bear near Chino. This probably happened near 1900. He also appeared
with his brothers in a minstrel show. I would like to have information on
this also. He may have been appearing in the show when this happened. The
Crago's were suppose to go by box car around the country and put on these
shows.

I for one would exercise caution when sending the Paradise Genealogy
Socieity the $15.00 for information on your ancestor. I would have at
least expected to have been given an itemized list of what they did check.
Instead I got a letter responding that they found nothing on my ancestor.
They kept my money. Since this situation I have found out that my ancestor
was married, and died in Butte County, buried in Chico Cemetery, listed on
the 1860, 1870, 1880, 1900, 1910, and 1920 census for Butte County, an

I would suggest, if you haven't already, go to www.usgenweb.com, go to CA,
then Butte County. Check out all the look up people, and all the cemeteries
that are listed. This will cover a large amount of the look up resources
that I'm aware of. I make it my business to collect information on the
burials not covered there. I have records for 13 medium sized cemeteries in
Butte County that don't have offices and are from the Pioneer era. Glen
Haven Cemetery is probably too new to have Ruth bur

Is there anyone that can do a lookup in the newspaper for obits? I have six

Please contact me if you can do it. I would appreciate any help. Or if you

I think that you have hit the nail absolutely on the head, here. The
spelling you are looking for is 'browse', for the person trying to
decipher the handwriting .

I have some overview photos of some of the local cemeteries. I also have
records for thirteen small cemeteries. I have Early Death and Burial Index
(1859-1905) 1880 census index, and 1890 Great Register. I can do some look
ups.

I am still trying to locate a William NISWONGER who lived in Chico and died
in 1901. He married a (Mary) Polly Ann HAPNER who preceded him in death in
1891. The 1890 census would have been helpful. Tried the 1880 but found
nothing. Thanks.

Hello Donna,
I would like to add that: This happened a few years ago. They may have
better management now/ or perhaps a better system. I am only saying be
careful/and expressing what happened to me. Most Genealogy Societies are
very good and do a lot for the extraction projects etc. Maybe many
extraction projects have been done since my situation. I still feel,
however, that an itemized list of what they did search would have been very
helpful, as it would have cut done on my duplication efforts. Pe

There are some old records in the Special collections department in Merriam

I checked Early death and Burial records, and the Register of Delayed Births.
I don't find records there either.

I am searching for the death records for Louisa S. Murch and the birth
records for her daughter Ella Nora Murch.
Louisa died in Chico, Butte County on May 28,1887, and is buried in
Chico Cemetery. I have searched the Butte County vital records twice.
