The cemetery project will probably start this spring. It will take quite a
bit of time, because we're implementing one of the canvasing models that
has been used in quite a few states for this purpose. Each grave is
plotted described and the headstone drawn and then the inscriptions are
documented. All of which will be crossindexed eventually. This sounds
like a lot of work, but when it's done it enables us to find the grave even
if the stone isn't there anymore. And with the vandalism that we witnessed
Don't you think the information could be transcribed from the record
indexes?
Would it be OK to post the indexes and not the whole of each record?

I was lured to order several microfilm copies from this company with
"guarantees" of "speedy delivery" and "low price" .
My order was placed in October of 1998 and as of this posting I have not
received the order or a refund after numerous contacts with Steven Jensen at
this firm .

Linda, I'm not sure that it did. Someone or other mentioned that one of
those large companies had taken over but I don't know that for sure.

You know that this should be possible at least for the early stuff because
they've done an index to the old handwritten books, and the index looks like
it was produced on a computer.
I can't see that they'd allow the originals as some of those a very old.

Someone on this list recently e-mailed me with a request for a name look-up
in the 1900 Census. I had some problems with my e-mail program and
inadvertently deleted the message, so I don't know who the request came
from. If you would resend your request to me I will do what I can for you,
although it may be quite some time before I have time to follow up on it
for you. Free time is almost non-existent in my life right now, & I don't
know when I'll be getting back to researching in the local Family History

Hi Linda -
Do you want some help with this? I was at the cemetary last spring
taking
photos of our family headstones. How about Smith River Cemetery and
HowOnQuet Cemetery in Smith River? I would be happy to help where I
can.
Do you plan to put county death/birth/marriage records on the web? The
County recorders office has done a great job of keeping things up to
date
alphabetically.

Hi Dee:
The county death/birth/marriage records are actually already on the web
