Hello Earl and Board,
Is there anyone who can help me determine the ancestry of the John W. Cagle
who appeared in the Colbert Co, AL, and Union Co., MS, census as shown below?
Would sure appreciate any help!

Hi List, Nancy Jane, and Rhonda
I just got back from the McClung research center here in Knoxville
and I found something that may be of interest. As the 1870 and 1880
census had Henry P Cagle's wife Catherine as being born in Tennessee, I
wanted to look at the 1850 census to see if there was a Warner family
who would have a child Catherine of about 5 years of age. I found in
the index the following:
659-847 Marion Co, TN Warner, James 38, Eliza 34, Anna 14, John
16, Thomas 12, Mary 10, Melinda
Hi Tom
Our Cagle's did move to Illinois, Jacob Elias and wife Lucy moved there,
with his children, and other Cagle. There were German Immigrants from
Germany also .

Can any of you cousins tell my why so many of my incoming messages
end up in other that a "page form". i.e. Most messages look like a
letter on a page, while a few come in where you need to scroll to the
the right for what seems like the width of several normal pages in order
to read them. Those messages in question may only be three lines long,
but would perhaps be 12+ lines on a normal letter size lay out.
Maybe some of you "computer heads" can tell me what can be done to

Does anyone know where in Brecknock Twp. Berks Co, Leonhart had land. The reason I ask is the Berks Co has posted 1876 land maps with owners names and among the names is the Kachel name. For those of you who might want to take a look the URL for the maps is below. Just select the one for Brecknock. I have tried to check others but I was getting cross-eyed!!!! The Kachle I found is just above School District #2. It also looks like other Kachel's just east of the Kinti Pinnacle but they were harder to r
I'm returning to the list and, at Earl's suggestion, re-posting

because so many Cagles had the same name (Leonard, Henry,
George, etc.)

Hi list,
My 4Gr-Grandfather Leonard Cagle b. 1780, son of Charles, had a son by
his second wife named Francis Marion Cagle b. ca 1844. I have never
heard anyone mention him or his full siblings. Does anyone on the list
know anything of his children by Nancy, the 2nd wife. Thanks for any
assistance.

Earl,
Thanks for the reply and information. However, the Henry Cagle family
you mentioned below do not appear to be of my particular line. The
family I am looking for gave a residence of Moorehouse MO, and lived in
New Madrid Co. in 1900. I believe Moorehouse is near the boundary
between Scott and New Madrid Co's.?

Hi Everyone and Happy Halloween Week!
I just wanted to follow-up on Doyles comments about the free server space at rootsweb. After he first sent out the information I became intrigued enough to look into it and after a little coaching I posted my family information. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was quite simple and since posting I find it to be a powerful research tool. I have been able to search on the various family names in my database and compare them to the listings that come up in other peo

John,
I'm of the opinion that not only " Stars Fell On Alabama", but a jillion
variations of surnames also.
While I have hundreds of Cagle surnames in my database, a lot unverified
as yet, I have another couple of hundred possible Cagles spelled in various
ways. I have seen them as Cabels, Caygell, Kaygel, Cobles, and almost any
other variation the transcriber could list.
Undoubtedly, some are truly Cagle descendants. Some also are not.
It's a like situation with most names that can be phonetically
Hi Cagle Gang,
I received the data below from the DeKalb County mail list. I felt that we
could also benefit from the references in the " War of the Rebellion". I
looked over some of the works and they are great indeed. Just wish it had
an index. Down here in Alabama, we refer
to it as the " War of Northern Agression." (g)
Best wishes, Doyle

Hi list,
Nancy Janes data, and the Marriage Data Base John sent, give us the
marriage for them.
This shows Leonard Cagle to Margaret Nave, who
married in Christian Co; Il; on 5-26-1859.
So now we can identify who Margaret's, maiden name was.
Although I didn't check I am sure there were other
marriages, to match to these census records.
Nice work on the Illinois Cagle census records.
Thanks for passing this on to the list, Nancy Jane.
