PEARL MILTON SUICIDE
Pearl Milton, 44, of Malin, Oregon, committed suicide by strangling himself
in a ward at the Woodland Clinic Hospital early Monday.
The victims body, with a leather strap fixed about his neck, was found by a
nurse making early morning calls on the patients. Milton had been admitted
to the hospital March 17th and was suffering form an incurable disease.

Mr. and Mrs. Ira Darst leave today on a motor trip East, they expect to go
via Los Angeles and a southern route to the East. Their many friends here

San Francisco last week where they will enter the Navy and will probably

Mrs. Clyde Davis is recovering from a very severe touch of rheumatism.
Mrs. Cressler Robinson and little babe left for her home in Warner Monday.
R. H. Stanley, editor of the Record, has been critically ill the past month
and is still confined to his bed and unable to attend to business.
Mrs. Fred Hill and family moved from the Coffman Hotel to the Ebling
residence in the north end of town last week.

ILLNESS OF E. P. SESSIONS
A letter from Fred A. Ash, of Fort Bidwell, informs us of the somewhat
serious illness of E. P. Sessions at his home in Berkeley. Mr. Sessions is
one of the old pioneer residents of this valley and his many friends deeply
regret to hear of his illness and hope to hear soon of his complete
recovery. While bringing coal from the basement at his home, on January

DEATH CALLS PIONEER
Death claimed a worthy pioneer of the northern end of Surprise Valley on
last Monday when W. H. Schadler of Fort Bidwell passed peacefully away at a
ripe old age after an illness of a few weeks. For many years, he was owner
of the Cow Head ranch, north of fort Bidwell and which was sold to his son a
few years ago.

Married at Reno, Nevada, June 29, 1929, Miss Fern Sweet and Lewis Cockrell,

EAGLEVILLE NEWS NOTES
P. K. Heard went to Cedarville Saturday and brought back some farm machinery
for S. A. Slinkard.
Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Pryor and daughter are visitors at the L. J. Barber

(1895-1971). He is listed on the 1930 census in Alturas and died in Fall

an operation for appendicitis, and is now feeling first rate.

DR. EHLE PASSES AWAY AT SAN JOSE
Just as he prophesied to a professional friend before leaving Susanville to
view an estate valued at approximately $90,000, which had been willed to him
by a cousin, Dr. H. B. Ehle, never rolled another pill for he died in a
hospital at San Jose Monday after an illness of less than a week of facial
erysipelas.

James Patterson arrived here from Berkeley last Monday after spending three
weeks in that vicinity.
Miss Barbara Johnstone has been ill with pneumonia the past week, but is now
improving.
Jake Rechstiener, of the Peoples Meat Market left for San Francisco last
Monday, where he will undergo treatment for hand that he cut very severely
with an ax sometime ago.

Marriage bells a
Marion Hawkins made a trip to Fort Bidwell this morning to visit her father
who has been seriously ill with ulcer of the stomach. His condition is
steadily improving.
Anyone wanting to get in touch with Professor Moore may do so be sending his

during the summer.
Winfred Gooch is building a house now and from the looks of things some
things may happen in the near future to these single lads who under take

John Dyke had the misfortune of breaking his leg Tuesday evening; he started
to climb up between the horses onto a load of hay and while so doing, the
horses got frightened and started to run around in a circle. Mr. Dyke lost

The death in Minneapolis, Minn., Saturday last of Thomas B. Walker, head of
the Red River Lumber Company, removes a man well-known and respected, not

DEATH OF MRS. EVA BUCK
Mrs. Eva Buck, wife of Norman Buck, of Whittier, passed away at that place
on May 29th after a brief illness. Her remains were brought here for burial
and were interred in the Odd Fellows Cemetery last Sunday afternoon; the
funeral was conducted from the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hill, Rev.

Mrs. Glenn Hill died at her home near Eagleville last Saturday, after a
brief illness, leaving three children and her husband to mourn her death and
to whom their many friends tender their sympathy I their sad loss. Mr. and

FORMER RESIDENT PASSES
Anna A. Peters _____ passed away Saturday evening at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Minnie Metzker in this city. Death was due to an attack of
pneumonia from which she had been suffering for the past two months. Next
April 8th would have been her 75th birthday.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Baptist church in this
city, Rev. L. Meyer preaching the funeral sermon.

Georgia Parman spent a two weeks vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
George Sweeney of Lake City and returned to her home in San Francisco.

A. L. Page, arrived here from Yuba City, first of the week and is visiting
his daughter, Mrs. Mary Perry.
You want to excuse Thomas Wilson for erratic actions these days and it is
hoped he will soon recover to a normal condition. His predicament was
brought about by the arrival at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wilson, a
little daughter, June 27th. Mother and babe are doing nicely.
AUTO WRECK SOUTH OF TOWN
Last Thurs
Elliot Vernon and wife, of Alameda, and Theo Laughter and wife of San
Francisco, spent several days here last week being the guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Stanley of this place. Mr. Vernon is one of the pioneer settlers
of Modoc and notes many changes since the seventies. Mr. Laughter is and has
been for the past several years connected with the San Francisco Call in the
advertising department and left last Friday to resume his duties on that
paper.
