Dear listers:
I hope SKS can direct me on how I can obtain a copy of an obit on someone who
lived in Studio City (never realize someone could lived there.) and died in
1975.
Which newspaper is the preferred paper for Studio City?
Is there a library that I can contact that will make a copy and mail it to
me?
Thanks.
Nora FitzGerald
I am hoping to get to the county recorder's office two times next week and
with luck also with my niece. Here is listing of all the requests that I
have put on my list. The list is longer than the quantity that we will be
able to transcribe, but it should give one and all the time frame of their
requests.
I hope it makes since to everyone.
Last First Death date (if known- reference number) Request date
Moore Charles M 3/23/1916 7-Jan
Moore Henry S 5/24/1884 7-Jan
McKinney Alexander 1/29/19
Try the Public or County Library in the city or town where the deceased
lived. I received an obit in 10 days from Long Beach. Used Google Search to
locate the library.
Good hunting, Ruth
Help, please. Does anyone know if there is an index for those who died in
Los Angeles County between 1850 and 1905? I need help in those years with my
family research.

Deborah,
The intent of the bill is to prevent our use of indexes for birth and death
until all maiden names of mothers and the Soc. Sec. number have been stripped
from the millions of names already in the indexes. And that could take years and
lots of money the counties simply cannot afford.
However, in the reference you posted, I think it means when we want to PURCHASE
a certificate (as opposed to searching the index) since it states "...upon
receipt of a request that reasonably identifies the record...

Hi Deborah....
I've seen that site and it does work great...but you need an address.
Try using the 1930 City Directory - to get your address -
then use this site for searching for the film....this should work.
Good Luck

Does anyone know why a young man would be in Hong Kong China in 1920? I have a document from my court house with legal papers, with Ernest Hansen Scott signing it and along side of the signature was a note Hong Kong China. I am assuming that a secretary might have put it there noting that it was mailed from Hong Kong.
I have also found out that he went to school in England. Where might I find a list of students who went there? Don't know the year.
He had been in WWI according to his death certificate

Dear Californians and everybody else out there interested in the future of
genealogy,
I just went to www.rootsweb.com and was shocked to see that the California
legislature is trying to pass a law that will severely limit access to birth
and death records in California. I know that I wish they would give us more
access and not less. It is tough enough just going on birth certificates,
marriage certificates, death certificates and census records, but now they
want to take that away from us too. It wasn

A person of the family is burried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park
21300 Via Verde Drive, Covina, CA. Her name is Solveig Inga Olson.
She is interred in space 5 lot# 1957 section Churchyard.
Unfortunately I am located far away from Covina as im in Norway, so I
was hoping there is a volunteer in Covina that could take a picture of
her grave for me.
If anyone can, please contact me.
Sincerely, May.
