I have two ancestors that died in LosAngeles County, California. I
wrote to the Roy C. Addleman Funeral
Home on Valley Blvd. in El Monte, California who handled both funerals
and inquired as to what paper
published the obits for these two ancestors. Roy C. Addleman wrote back

obits were published in the Star News Newspaper in Pasadena. Would
anyone on this list be kind enough
to obtain these two obits for me? I will be happy to pay any costs

So much fascinating information is locked in that old family photograph, document or
story just waiting to be brought out! All that is needed is a few new tools and some
curiosity and creativity.
Genealogy and forensic science share the goal of solving a mystery. The "who, what, when,
where and why" are just as important to you in researching your family tree as they are
to a detective solving a crime. Yet gene

Then I'll give this a try--
My grandmother, whose maiden name was Dora (Dorah) Horsley married a man named David Leming (Lemming) in Arkansas in 1902. He died in 1925 and she moved to the Los Angeles area in the late twenties or early thirties. I have no information about the man she married except that his last name was Wagner. Can anyone figure that out? When did they marry? When did they divorce?
I would appreciate any advice you can offer.

Question: Your William Haddick who died September 15, 1949 in Cevina,
LosAngeles County, California
Are you sure that is not Covina.. I lived there during that time frame and I
have never heard of a Cevina... But COVINA has been there since way before

Hi Jane,
Did you know that funeral homes have copies of the funeral service records.
THese records usually are only one sheet of paper but hold many pieces of
information. Some funeral Homes will tell you they have it, some will not
volunteer the information and you have to ask for it. You can also try the
Genealogy Societies in Los Angles Co. I'm sure there is quite a few. How
about the town they were living in? That paper should have carried the obit.
Also try the library of the town they lived in.
Thanks for the help.
Now I am sent back to Charles H Forbes and Luisa Olvera in the 1880 census.
They list a young daughter but her name is illegible and has more letters
than Constance. It seems more like Concelition--which makes sense,
Concepcion is a family name. So, are there marriage records as early at
1890 in California? Also, I'm really interested in how "constance" dies.
Do you know how I might find that out?
Thanks so much.

If anyone has done research on burials at Grand View Cemetery, I would like to hear from you. I do not know for a fact, but am concerned that there may have been unmarked graves in this cemetery that might have been "reused", either inadvertently or advertently.
I am searching the Los Angeles Times online for the early burials noted to have occurred at Grand View. A tombstone listing done by DAR or some other transcriptions would be very helpful to me.
Thanks so much,
