The first step is always to order the death certificate, that can be done at:
http://regrec.co.la.ca.us/recorder/birth_death.htm
It's cheap, fast, and will give you a lot of good info.

He's listed in the Social Security death records as Lester Worthington
[d. April 1967 last residence in Nye, Tonopah County, Nevada]. You
could contact Nevada for a death certificate to find out what his full
name is. You could also send to the SS Administration and get a copy of
his SS-5 [application for Social Security]. It costs $27. But it
contains his full name, his parents names and his address at the time he
applied for a SS card. It likely will even be in his own writing.

Adolph Solis, City Clerk of Azusa died a few days ago. He was also a
historian of the city. He helped me a number of times on the phone and
once I visited his office with some old documents. He was a great guy

Lou & wife Hattie had at least 6 children, Ruby, Thelma, Charles & twins Edward & Fred, and Eva. All of these children show up on the 1930 census in Morgan CO.
Any pointers on how I would go about finding a family member would be appreciated.

I think these people are buried at Evergreen Cemetery in the DIDIER
mausoleum but it's difficult for me to get there.
These people emigrated from France and worked for or with the
Workman-Temple Family Homestead and married into the AMAR
family, sheep breeders until their move to Salmon, Idaho. They lived
in La Puente for a long time.

Hi Tony as well as everyone else who has been so helpful.
Dad died April 9, 1967. I was 15 and had spent the entire day at his bedside. Mom and I drove home to Tonopah, Nye County, Nevada and received a call to tell us he had died right after we got home.
His death certificate was made out in the name he had at the time of his death but, sometime back in 1932 (I think

Hi Gang,
Last August I sent this in hopes of finding out the true first name of my
father so I could order his birth certificate. I received a response but
lost the info when my computer crashed. Is there someone who remembers
sending me the info or someone who could look it up for me?
Thank you so much.

I'm trying to help a friend with his family tree. He believes his parents
were married in Los Angeles County in the 1950s but I cannot locate them by
bride's name on the free index. Is there someone with a paid membership who
would be willing to look for them through the groom's name index? If so,
please contact me off-list.
Thanks!

I am trying to find a brother and maybe a sister. I just found out about a year ago that my dad was married three times. He married first Luella Mary Gillett. She was born about 1915 in WA. She married my dad in December 1934 in California. I heard that she already had a daughter when they got married and they had a son. His name might be Glen. My dads name is Robert Neal Maddux. My dad had a daughter in 1941 with his second wife. I have found this sister and very glad I did. We are now trying to find our b

Yes, Wanda, that is me. Great to see you on the list. Your dad's story was my first big find when I started looking up L.A. obits five plus years ago. Whenever I am at Valhalla Cemtery, I always put some flowers on those three graves.
Take care..
