Hi Marc, The El Dorado County Pioneer Cemeteries Commission (EDCPCC) website is now online. It may be accessed at this URL: http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ca/county/eldorado1/. There is already a separate cemetery page for Cold Springs Cemetery if you would like to list it separately from the GenWeb site. That URL is: http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ca/county/eldorado1/Cold_Springs.htm. I'm kind of new at this, so I hope these will work. If not, please let me know. I will keep you updated as other cemeter
8. [CAMadera] California Senate Bill 1614 [0.989426]
Good morning, I have received copies of a number of letters people are sending in opposition to this Bill that is now moving through the Assembly. In looking at the history posting on the website, this Bill only passed the Senate by 5 votes and the wording had been changed to just a statement of intent. The new wording of the Bill was amended after the Senate vote when it came before the Assembly. Since the Senate passed the "intent" Bill with such a slim margin, I believe those who oppose this Bill sho
9. [CAMadera] California Senate Bill 1952 [0.989426]
Hello, I have been watching the progress of Senate Bill 1952 because a portion of it was a reaction to what had occurred in Georgia at the crematory where the owner stacked and stored bodies rather than perform the service he was paid to perform. As originally written SB 1952 would have allowed the Dept. of Consumer Affairs Cemetery and Funeral Bureau to review whether there was also a need to regulate cemetery and funeral salespersons of religious corporations or entities - a group that has historically
10. [CAMadera] FW: Action Alert on California SB 1614 [0.989426]
Apparently there is another effort underway to try to stop SB 1614. And some changes that are noted below. Thought it was worth sending along. 11. [CAMadera] California Historic Cemetery Commission [0.989426]
Greetings: Some of you may recall that Assemblymember Anthony Pescetti authored proposed legislation (AB 1779; 2000 and AB 1368; 2001) that would have created the California Historic Cemetery Commission to work toward identifying our state's early cemeteries and reviewing the problems that plague them. Thanks to Governor Gray Davis, we didn't get our historic cemetery commission because the Governor vetoed the bill even though it passed both the state senate and assembly nearly unanimously. Had the gover

13. [CAMadera] Fw: Senate Bill 1614 - OPPOSE [0.989426]
(Note to those to whom this is forwarded: I included my full address in the original email to Assemblymember Corbett.) Ellen M. Corbett, Chair Assembly Committee on Judiciary Dear Madam Chair: My family came to California in 1850. My great-great-grandfather died in 1897, NOT in Sutter County as we had always believed, but in Amador County. Had we not had our public vital records information available, I would not have found this information out, for legislation such as SB 1614 would require me to go
14. [CAMadera] Fw: California Senate Bill 1614 - OPPOSE [0.989426]
My Senate representative is Rico Oller. This was his staff's reply to me regarding this issue. Perhaps his suggestion to let Gray Davis know how we feel is a good one. Anyone wishing to tell the Governor we think this Bill to restrict access to Vital Statistics is uncalled for, and more detrimental to the public at large than it will be to identity thieves, please email him at: Governor Gray Davis: mailto:governor@governor.ca.gov If this Bill makes it through the Assembly, Governor Davis will be our on
15. [CAMadera] Act now or lose CA birth & death record rights [0.989426]
Dear Californians and everybody else out there interested in the future of genealogy, I just went to www.rootsweb.com and was shocked to see that the California legislature is trying to pass a law that will severely limit access to birth and death records in California. I know that I wish they would give us more access and not less. It is tough enough just going on birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates and census records, but now they want to take that away from us too. It wasn
16. [CAMadera] California Senate Bill 1614 [0.989426]
This is to advise you that SB 1614, which will restrict access EVEN to INDEXES of births, deaths, etc., has been amended again. The new text is as below. If you value your right to research your genealogy or to help others who do not reside in the state, NOW is the time to contact your STATE REPRESENTATIVES. The California State Assembly and Senate websites have member listings and you may find how to contact your representatives by accessing those site. If you do nothing now, it will be too late to pro
