Tiffany,
I had your same names down to James and Mary Polly.
I have added the rest to my database and listed you as the source.
If that is not OK, let me know and I will remove them.
Maybe it will help someone else by being there.
Thanks

Not sure why you are posting to a message board about the Campbell family,

Many thanks for the most useful Kentucky material. Do you have the titles
of the record books in which the information was found, please? The Census
one I can find but the others I presume were recorded in Registers
somewhere.

First, keep in mind that I cannot prove a connection to the Campbells in
Augusta/Orange county, VA.
That being said, I suggest reading at a site:

Be sure to read the caveat at the bottom of that site by Diarmid Campbell.

I can only get back as far as Steven / Stephen Campbell (b.16 Feb 1825 PA,
d. 4 Feb. 1911, probably in Eau Claire Co, WI) traced back as far as Vernon,
Green Co. WI. Wife Mary Rose McClellan(sp?) 30 Dec 1844 PA. Children Frank,
George, Emma, Alta (F). It doesn't appear that Steven is a common name in
the Campbell line. Any help would be very much appreciated.
There is a "family story" that there may have been a John that went to fight

Hello everyone!
I am new to the list and would like everyone to know who I'm searching: Hugh Campbell, born approximately 1830 in Ireland. I don't know where in Ireland or when. I don't know his parents' names. I believe he settled in New Orleans around 1850. He does not show up in the 1850 census of New Orleans. He was married at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in April 1858, to Winifred Roper. They had ten children: Rebecca, Mary, Isabella, Irene, Elizabeth, Hugh, Jr., Patrick, William, Winifred an
Pilcher writes "Lt Col Richard Campbell was distantly related to her family
but didn't know the connection". She also names Buchanan's and Taliaferro's.
There was a C. P. Buchanan with Cyrus Campbell in Campbell co, KY during the
Civil War and a John Taliaferro in Campbell co, KY in 1833. Is this a
coincidence or was there a family connection?? Any clues??
Angus,
I would suggest that you try the Argyll List (just type in Argyll and see
what comes up is what I did) because a Jean Campbell MacLeod in Stornoway
often monitors the List and is from mainland Campbells but she might have
suggestions on how to find the Lewis Campbells and whether there is a Lewis
genealogical or historical List.
I wish you well,

Diarmid,
I asked a couple of people about Gov. Campbell's papers. I am told that his papers during the time he was Governor are at the Library of Virginia.
For the remainder of the papers, some are at Perkins Library, Duke University, Durham, NC and Tennessee State Library, Nashville, TN.
Hope this helps.

Hi Diarmid,
You are more than welcome for the info on the Will of said William Campbell.
I do realize that many of us have yet to prove the line bet. James,
Susannah (Leake) and this William if it is in fact his father. Like
you I wish more of the Campbell lines would post their sources for those
of us still struggling back into the early Campbell's of 1600-1700's,
that came into the U.S. at that time.
With names such as Campbell, Hill and Smith in my direct lines back
during that time frame and in
I haven't been ignoring you. I've been on vacation and trying to get back in
sync again.
I'm wondering if this is the same Hugh Campbell. This Hugh Campbell's
son died before 1660 (altho married). It doesn't say how long Hugh lived.
And unfortunately what I included is all there is.......

Frank,
Many thanks for these. It makes a huge difference when people like you give
the sources for what they find. Thank you for that. I am assuming that
these are listed as MIs in a published work on the grave-yard titled
'Monumental Inscriptions of the McKeesport, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania
Cemetry.'
If you find any relationships (with teh sources) I would be interested to
know of them as it is so rare to find any actual Campbell links to Ireland
or Scotland documented.

Hi,
I goofed. The john receiving land from his brother Richard was a different
family. The Richard in question here did have a son John, who received his
land.
I think I'll try doing a time line with Excel as soon as I finish a class
I'm taking and see what falls out. It's also possible that when I get it
all entered into the database that it will sort it out.

The children I know of are Catherine Campbell, b. 1800 (my gg grandmother),
Cyrus Campbell, b. 1812 and Amanda Campbell. Catherine married William
McComb 10 June 1819 in Vigo county, IN. Cyrus married Susannah Rardin 4 Oct
1834 in Campbell county, KY and Amanda married Jonathan Perrin 5 Jan 1830.
The marriage records also have a John Perrin married to a Sally Campbell. I
don't know if this is the same John Perrin. I haven't been able to trace
Jonathan Perrin after 1837 in Clermont county, OH.

They may have been talking about Stone Mountain, GA.
It's in the suburbs East of Atlanta.
It's a solid granite "bubble". There's a park built
around it. There's a Confederate engraving on the
front also. If you ever get nearby, I highly
recommend seeing it.
Hope this helps.
