Hi Ron,
I actually do not know anything more than I have seen in newspaper
reports of her death. It said she was born in Cornwall. That could
mean the Cornwall area. She died in 1899 and I was going to purchase
her death certificate, which I can still do, but the lady in Oswego,
NY told me her mothers name was not on there, which was the main
reason why I wanted it, so I did not do that at the time.
In her sons CW FIle her maiden name was listed as Delia Cassiday.
I know nothing of her parents
Louise, I don't know anything about your Great Grandfather, but there was a
Bumbray family who were neighbours of my family in the early 1950s when I
was a child in the Snowdon area of Montreal. I believe that they lived on
McLynn or Bourret. One of the daughters babysat me. Could this possibly be
part of your family?

Hi Ron, I was going over your last email to me. You mentioned a Rose
working as a "Cook on Canal" in the 1870 census. Who is the Rose you
meant. Was she part of that DeRosier family? I never saw a Rose on
any census.

I am looking for the name Cassiday. That is the name given as my gg
grandmother's maiden name on the Civil War Pension Application file
of one of her sons. I have looked for years for this name in the
Cornwall area, but found nothing. I have recently been told that the
name may have been Casoty or Casote and French, not Irish as I had
always thought. Due to illiteracy of my gg grandmother, it may have
been spelled the way it sounded by her son or maybe the way it
sounded to the person taking

Hi Listmates: This is a real "stab in the dark" request.

Hi Marilyn,
I have sent a copy of the page on which Rose Derosia is listed in the 1870
census--living with Delia and Paul Derosia. The email will be coming from
"Ancestry" and you should be able to open it as an image from the census.
Let me know if you receive it OK.

I recently became aware of this resource and was wondering if someone could be of help to me. My my great grandfather was John Bumbray, born September 20, 1847, in Ireland I believe. He died May 12, 1923 in Montreal and was married to Elizabeth Masson and had 5 children: John (Marie-Louise Hervieux), Berthe, Ernestine, Elizabeth (Joseph Chartier) and Yvonne (Wilfred Pilon). John Bumbray worked as a contractor (building houses) in the Hochelaga district of Montreal. He was an alderman for the City of Mont

Sheila, I would be very happy to have any information that anybody can
provide! Knowing the godparents sometimes gives good clues. I am still
fairly new to researching my family and don't know how to look up births and
deaths - it would help if you could explain to me how you found that
information as well?? My e-mail is cully@videotron.ca. I found the Hayes
connection by wading through deep snow in the cemetery last Sunday!

It is very interesting to see how names were changed at one point or another. It sounds very logical to me. I'll see what I can piece together with all this information I have received.

Hi Michael,
Have you searched the Montreal Star newspaper for obituaries and obsequies
for everyone possible? I have had great success with that.
Have you searched Cote des Neiges Cemetery on-line? You'll be able to find
out who is buried in the plot.
Have you seen Nicholas and Sara's gravestone? It just might yield their
birthplace and birthdates.
Good luck,
Linda
