Hi Carolyn,
Please don't apologize. The more help the better. I haven't been able to
find them on passenger lists through Ancestry yet. I got the arrival dates
from a census.
Thanks for your interest,
Joan

Hi Suzanne,
Thanks. I had discounted marriage in Itreland because on the census James
came over in 1828 and Mary in 1832, and no children were born til the 1840s.
Any other ideas anyone?

Hi All,
I am searching for the marriage of James Fitzgerald to a Mary ?. They
were born both in Ireland. In 1851 they are living in King's Co., Sussex .
James is a mariner. Their oldest child is age 8, born in Canada, so I am
guessing they married about 1842. The marriage definitely can't be in
Ireland according to their arrival dates.
I cannot find it in the index to New Brunswick Archives, so I'm hoping
someone can find them in a church records for the area---probably RC.
Many thanks for any
Hi Joan Try to get hold of the microfilm for St Francis Xavier Catholic
Church in Sussex. Its available from the Latter Day Saints Family
History Centers. I don`t know if they have one in Ottawa however their
web site could find the nearest one for you . Check their film
catalogue and you should be able to order it into that nearest Center
from Salt Lake City. It takes a couple of weeks and the rental was about
$6. You have to work on the film at their center and most have limited
hours of operation
Sorry to break in but
am wondering what Ships they arrived on?

Joan, don't forget, sometimes the husband came over first and the family
followed, so they could have married in Ireland.

Joan, Just checking to see if you knew they were buried in St. Francis
Xavier RC Cem. John Elliott's book "Gone But Not Forgotten - Cemetry
Inscriptions of Kings Co.,NB - Volume 2 Sussex Parish"
Their stone says.....
FITZGERALD / James Fitzgerald / 1806 - 1893 / Mary Decoursey / his wife /
1820 - 1867
I know that the dates don't match the census but this is common. The only
other FITZGERLAD in all of the Sussex area is in the same cemeteryt 17
stones away from James and Mary.....

Hi Suzanne,
I did not have this information. Thank you very much . This gives me the
maiden name which was my biggest question and much more as a bonus.
Thanks again,
Joan
