Hello Hessian and Nova Scotian descendants;
Here is an enquiry from a descendant of this distinguished
Nova Scotia settler, who I have written about 4 pages in my
book 'The Hessians of Nova Scotia". I have spend months and
many dollars to collect all the information I have incorporated
in the book, but I am unable to answer the question posed by
this descendant. I have not found his place and date of birth,
neither his religion.
One descendant at one time informed me that he married in New York

Hello Janet,
after having quoted from Hurtig's, I thought it would only be
fair to quote the old "Encyclopedia Canadiana": by Grolier.
ACADIANS, descendants of the French settlers in ACADIE.
It is estimated that there are at least one million of them in
various parts of North America, with the larger number settled
in the Maritime Provinces and Louisiana. In the Maritimes they
form a distinct community; and in Louisiana they have partly
succeeded in preserving their culture against strong

They married in Merriconeague, ME, migrated

Am told that there is a book, or magazine

Any information would be appreciated.

Dear Donna Lee Butler;
Thanks for your response to my posting of yesterday.
I just wanted to make the point that our mail list is here
to help you make your organizations plans known to a wider
audience. An audience which is particularly interested in the
history and genealogy of this wonderful Annapolis Valley area.
I encourage you and your other volunteers to utilize this
mail list to your advantage.
Cheers,

Hello,
just this evening I found some old correspondence, in fact
it is over five years, I had with Donna Lee Butler about
the Bonnett House Historic Restoration Society of Annapolis
County.
In fact, I remember having donated a copy of my book
"The Hessians of Nova Scotia" to the Society.
It's been very quiet about this Bonnett House and the
Historic Restoration Society, and I just wonder whether
it is still alive,
and .... if ...... what their programme is for the rest of the year,
and of course what th

find him on the 1901 census for that area or if you knew his religion on
a church record or an announcement in the local paper, The Annapolis

Dear Janet;
According to Hurtig's "Canadian Encyclopedia":
ACADIA, name given to the first permanent French colony
in N America. The name originated with Giovanni da Verrazzano,
an Italian explorer, serving the king of France. In 1524 he
made his first trip to the New World and gave the name Arcadie
to a region stretching along the Atlantic coast near Delaware,
explaining the choice in his diary with a reference to "the beauty
of its trees." Sixteenth-century cartographers mistakenly gave the

Thank you for your explanation. You have always been helpful in the
past, that is why I thought of you when I had this question.
I just received the 2 volumes of The Way We Were by Zachary "Jack"
Duclos, PhD and I am finding it very interesting.
Few of my family surnames are suppose to be in this book. Definitely
interested in getting to that part of the two books.

Hello subscribers;
I don't want to push the panic button, but at the moment
many services provided by Rootsweb are not available.
The mail list archives are missing big chunks of mail, and
it may well be that you are not getting all the messages
being posted.
The Rootsweb technicians are aware of the problems and
hopefully are working on it. Please be patient until you
notice that regular traffic is restored.

Hello family researchers -
last nights query about Klein, Kline, Cline, Clyne, Klyne,
did force me to think about the many variations an original
name is being subjected to, and what it does to family research.
I promptly went on the Rootsweb site http://www.rootsweb.com
and checked a few Gedcoms just to see how some family researchers
are handling their names. It's easy, they all have the A to Z click-on
line, where all the names come up alphabetically.
I tried one page where the name B:AR (A as Umlaut)
Has anyone yet found page 14 of the Bridgetown Schedule 1??
I have managed to locate pages 1 to 18 listed under Belleisle, but it
is missing page 14.
*sigh* I think thats the one in particular I need to look at.
Doesn't that just figure???
While I'm at it, does anyone know what Halifax ward
North Park Street would fall under??

if that is the case, I would suggest to take the time and
check http://www.rootsweb.com and click on the top bar

Their e-mail address is right there if you click on their name,

will show what they have posted in the past.

Hello Everyone;
First thing Friday morning my wife Emmi and I went downtown
to the Lab to get some blood work done. Coming into the
waiting room, which was empty, except of three nurses standing
there waiting for business, there were the numbers hanging on the hook,
and the number "1" stared at me. I grabbed it and yelled:
"Eh, today I am Number One" and laughed.
The first nurse took me right to the next room to take my blood,
and while she was getting my medical file from the computer,
I heard another
