With Belinda Stronach crossing the floor to the Liberals the chance of the
Budget vote failing on Thursday is lessened, but a passing vote is by no
means a certainty yet. The Government needs the support
Hi Russell:
The John Urquhart & Christina Ross you are looking for are my great
grandparents. John Urquhart was born in 1821 at Cross Roads,Richmond
Co.,Nova Scotia, Christina Ross was born in 1825 in Nova Scotia.
John & Christina were married Abt. 1842 at Grand River,Richmond Co.,Nova
Scotia (we believe the marriage took place there because the only
Presbyterian Minister in the area at the time resided there).
John & Christina had three children while living at Sporting Mountain in

Hi Merlyn:
The book covers people from the spring of 1849, when the first settler
arrived, until the end of 1946.
Henry Schultz is not in the book. There is a Philip Schultz who was a
trustee in one of the Lutheran churches after a split. There is also a
mention of a "Mr. Schultz" who lived in the west. He was in Hanover
visiting with his sister, Mrs. Philip Fischer, when the Brittania Metal
Factory burned. The book does not give a date for the fire, but does say
that Mark Willis won tea and cof
I know that this is not the right forum to vent my frustration, but if the
Conservatives bring down the government without passing Bill S-18, I believe
they can write-off the thousands of votes of angry genealogists in Canada!

Hello Everyone
Does anyone have acess to the book "Reflections of Arran"? I am wondering
if the ESPLEN family is mentioned in that book? I tried to get a copy of
the book through Interlibrary Loan but no luck.
Thanks

Greetings All.
Contrary to my earlier expectations, today's session in the House of Commons
(Friday 20 May) did include two periods of debate on Government Orders.
Unfortunately the time allotted for both periods was taken up entirely with
debate on Bill C-9. There was no debate today on Bill S-18 or any of the
other Bills currently shown on the Projected Order of Business.
It would appear that on any given sitting day, appearance of a Bill on the
Projected Order of Business is not a guarantee that it wi
Hi Eileen:
There is no mention of Alex Wilson. There is a mention of W.F. Wilson, a
student assistant at the Methodist church. He boarded at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. McNally, where all student assistants were boarded. There are
also two tales of how he became known as "move on Wilson", and an accident
that happened when he was walking with a young lady and another man. A tree
branch broke, and fell on the unfortunate woman, killing her instantly.

To all readers:-
In 2005, The Year of the Veteran, it had been hoped Bill S-18 would be
passed prior to VE-Day as a tribute to all veterans, especially those who
served during World War One -- their family records are enumerated on
the 1911 census.
Queen Elizabeth is in Canada and there could be no better way to honor
her ancestor, Queen Victoria than by fast-tracking S-18, as we look forward
to the May 23rd holiday. Members of the Royal Family have served during
war-time as did Queen Elizabeth II

Even though Bill S-18 was on the agenda for consideration in the House of
Commons today (Thursday), 55 minutes after the House resumed sitting MP Rob
Nicholson made a motion to adjourn the House for today.
