Was it the Night before Christmas???
Was it the night before Christmas and everyone slept,
Except the Genealogist, who, out of bed crept
To check the Computer and regular mail box,
To heck with the ties, the chocolates and sox?
Everyone else is sleeping like a log,
Oh,oh, be careful, I just fell over the dog.
Whoops! just listen--- what's that on the roof?
Santa has caught me, being a goof.
I'll hide under the desk, till he goes away;
If he caught me up, what would he say?

I am looking for the first husband of Sophia Lake Spenser b. 1807 who came to Ancaster/Hamilton with her 5 kids from the States somewhere. I imagine that she came with her first husband (Mr. Spenser). He probably died in Ancaster/Hamilton around 1834-5 and she then married my ggg-grandfather Jessie Smith b. 1803. Perhaps there are some Smith researchers out there who may have figured this one out? I imagine that he was a Spenser, but I am not totally sure. Perhaps her maiden name was Lake.
Any ideas?

I am searching for any information I can find on the Wadsworth Family. I

Hello,
I just came across this today. You can search for free the 1945
edition of the Toronto Star. If you go to: www.thestar.com, there is a site:
Pages of the Past. Click on it and then you can search the 1945 edition for
a limited time. Unfortunately I don't know how long this offer will last.
I'm searching for "HOLLEY" relatives in Toronto - Martin and Dorothy (nee

I don't know about Bertha L., but the rest are mine. James Connor was James
O'Connor, born Connecticut 1851. Married Kate McDonald (bn. 1862, Glencoe,
Middlesex County, Ontario) about 1881 in Hamilton. James switched to the
Presbyterian Church at marriage and dropped the "O' ". Mary and Chistina
are their children. The family stayed in Hamilton the rest of their lives.

Hello Listers -
Do you know Mrs. Jean Dunham ... or how to get 'hold of her? When
we last spoke, a few years ago, she offered to send me info' on my
gr-grandfather - David Edwirt "Ed" HENDERSON, of Lynden. As it turns
out, Mrs. Dunham knew my gr-grandparents (and, I'm hoping, my
grandfather, too) - something I cannot lay claim to, myself.
Unfortunately, we moved after some time - but before hearing from
Mrs. Dunham. I have, since, spoken with her son ... but, when I recently
sent a letter to her,
There was also St. George's church Hannon at the corner of Nebo road and
Rymal road (hwy 53) at the train tracks. All that is left is the cemetary,
the church was pulled down in the 1970's if I remember correctly. It was
there in 1851 and a 1851 map shows several small buildings on the site. I
assume these would probably have been the "Albion" parsonage as the church
is only a short walk from Albion Mills aka Mount Albion. Sadly very little
of the original buildings in this area survive. Other than *Grass
Hello again Nelson and all:
Many thanks again, Nelson, for all your help!
To all:
Nelson has provided me with alot of valuable info concerning my USHER family, especially
with his personal comments about Grace Church, Brantford, and the USHER family.
Now that I have found that Rev. USHER was "in" Wentworth...1835-1835, and since this time
period is before the current Churches were established........I am trying to find out
where he actually LIVED??? during this time.
I am hoping that other listers may h
I think I've written to Judy before. But here are a few phone numbers for
The churches mentioned.
All four churches have newer buildings but all are well over 100 years old
but are in very good condition. :-)
The records of the early days are probably secured in the Diocese archives.
I doubt if any are just lying about the churches.
There are a number of plaques in Grace Church Brantford that mention the
Usher family.
