Hi Listers,
I am searching for any ships records for my SMYTH/SMITH family who came to Canada in 1832 and settled in Whitchurch Twp. north of Toronto.
I have searched what is on line on the Ships List and on Olive Tree and the Transcribers Guild, but to no avail so far.
The names of the family members were, Thomas b. abt 1769, James b. 1802, John W. b. 1804 and possibly Mary b. 1800.
I have some info on the family in Whitchurch and have found the burial site for Thomas and James. I descend from John, s

Hi,
I suspect you will have to search OFFline records (the few
that exist) for your names.
Before 1865, shipping companies were not
required by the government to retain their pass
Hello to all,
I am new to the list and am looking for information on my 3rd great
grandparents. John and Louisa Hecht Hochstrasser lived in Vaughn Twp. in Ontario from
1858 -1860/1 (from what I can find out). They moved to Indianapolis, Indiana by
mid 1861. They were married August 17, 1858, in York County, Ontario at
Evangelical Lutheran Church. They had 2 children while living in Canada. According
to the 1900 census record they left Germany 1850. I am looking for ship lists,
I am not sure if they c

Yes - first narrow that time frame.
I'm new to the list and would like to find passage of my ancestor, John
Shallum Setterington and family, from England to Canada in 1822/ 1823.
He then returned to England in 1824 (verified) and, I hope, tried to
return to his children in Canada in recent subsequent year(s). I have
not been able to find his ship and verify his passages.
Thanks for any assistance.
George
I have seen a reference to "The Apollo" sailing from New York to New
Brunswick in 1783. Can anyone tell me if there were other ships carrying
Loyalists from New York to New Brunswick in that year? Can anyone recommend
the best course of research, i.e. paid subscription to Ancestry.com, use of
LDS microfilm, possibly free (or not free) on-line data?
I'm tracking Simon Losee and his family: wife Margaret Brush, son Jonas.
Also a Zuba Unknown who married Jonas Losee before boarding the ship.
Thanks.
Judy
Hi,
My GG Grandfather William Marshall and GG Grandmother Margaret Marshall ( Keys ), sailed to Canada in 1859. I don't have any details of ships name etc. It is believed Margaret gave birth to a son christened Henry on the way and another son Thomas was born in Canada in 1860. They emigrated from Norther Ireland and interestingly had returned there by 1864. I looked up the births at sea records and there is a Mr & Mrs Marshall who had a child on 6th May 1859 on board the 'Prince of Wales' sailing to ?opla

Hi George,
If you are looking for ships to Canada before 1865,
Monica...Your request sounded simple enough, But...
McEachen, Janet.b 1852, Benbecula m 1852 Angus McCorkindale, d On 1852.
McEachan Eliza b 1798 S.Uist m Archibald Currie, Emig. 1849, ON
When you put a K instead of an E I don't find anything---Probably not Clan
Donald!
Can you narrow it down a bit in the spelling? Are you sure it was 1818?

Hi everyone,
I'm back from my holiday and really glad to see the list
was so active and subscribers so helpful to each other
while I was away.
Are you ready for a trip to Salt Lake City Library? It's
fantastic! I just returned from a great time there so
thought I'd share a few tips and suggestions.
1. Have a plan before you go.
Decide what you want to find out. I made a list of dozens
of things I wanted to look for - from a specific ships'
passenger lists going to New York, to church records in
Moses Jordan, wife Mary Gahan and children, James, Bridget, Patrick,
Margaret, Catherine, John, Isabella, Mary, came to Quebec (Lower Canada at
that time) in 1832 from Wexford. I believe that it was in early 1832 that
Grosse Isle opened (immigration station). To date have not been able to find
their ship.
Any help appreciated.

Possibly a predecessor, my John Gordon born abt 1825 in Scotland.
Thanks for the input.

Would sks be able to find the ship that brought William and Marion SCOTT from Scotland to Canada in 1840? I would love to know which port they left from and which ship, if it was at all possible.
Many many thanks,

Hello
Searching for further information on passenger list for the
Ship Majestic which carried passengers from Lythe,
Whitby Parish, Yorkshire, England to Canada abt. 1835
Robert English who was one of the passengers onboard.
I would like to know if Robert English travelled with his
wife Elizabeth ( Eliza) and son John and maybe other children.
Have already seen the info on the Shipslist and that
posted on the Eng-North-Yorks rootsweb list.
thanks
Pat
Trying to find Thomas Patrick Finn on passanger lists. There just seems to
be so many. Thomas was born abt 1835-1837. Family rumor has it that he was
from a small village near Dublin. He immigrated roughly between 1852-1862.
Again family rumor has it that he immigrated straight to Canada. in 1862, he was
in the Orford twp-Howard twp area in Ontario, Canada.
Any suggestions to help me in my search?
