Hi fellow CANNON researchers!
I'm stuck on my mom's side of the family with a Mary (sometimes called
Virginia--but maybe that's a different person) CANNON born about 5 Mar
1825, married in 1851 in Dorchester Co., MD to Martin W.FOXWELL
(1816-1882) and died 28 Oct 1884.
Does anyone have any information or tips about her or her parents? Any
help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Doug Linton

His tombstone reads:

He commenced life a penniless orphan, but by the constant
exercise of his indomitable energies, directed by a sound
and vigorous intellect, crowned his labors with abundant
success. This simple monument marks the spot where rest
the mortal remains of Rasha Cannon, an honest man, a Mason,
and a Christian. His consistency and p

Rasha moves to Mississippi
In 1830, when nullification was stirring the grand old
state of South Carolina with an excitement which caused
an exodus from that section, Rasha Cannon, late member
of the South Carolina legislature, adhering to the principles
of Andrew Jackson, left his native home and with his family,
his slaves, his flocks and herds started to the "West" to
escape political strife. As the prairie lands were so
productive, he decided to settle in that fertile section

Hi all, New on this list.
I find that a Bolling/Cannon marriage occurred back in Henrico County
Virginia, about 1695 or so.
Here's the way the evidence points, but it is by no means proven:
1. _____ Bowling born circa 1675
m Mary Cannon, daughter of George Cannon
Thus George Cannon (Kennon on some records) would be born est. 1635 to
1655. His wife may be a Justice female.
Anyone with anything regarding George Cannon or _____ Bowling knows more
than me, and I would love to here from you.

Hi all,
The following is not the same Mary Cannon who married a Bowling, who I just
sent out an inquiry about.
In 1850s, Philip Slaughter, in his book, a History of Bristol Parish,
mentioned a John Bolling who married a Mary Kennon who was born in 1727: we
add, who is believed to come into NC. Also the Cannon family came into
the areas of Mecklenberg County, NC and Montgomery County, NC.
We do know that, A John Bolling born circa 1727, settled into Montgomery
County, NC, and was married to a Mary (K

I am searching for information on James Kennon/Cannon. His marriage license
in 1821 in Caswell Co., NC, has James Kennon marriage to Mary Ann Alverson.
He is listed in the 1850 Henry Co., TN census as James Cannon. A James Cannon
is listed in the will of Joel Cannon in 1829 in Caswell Co., NC. James and
Mary Ann's children were Zary, Eliza, Jasper, Susan, Henry, John, Mary,
Azariah, William, and Sidney.
If anyone has any information, I will be glad to exchange information.

In 1781, Rasha Cannon and his mother (the former Elizabeth Cannon)
were at the home of Rasha's grandfather, William Cannon, when it
was invaded by Col. Tarleton, Bloody Bill Cunningham and others
in a effort to secure the payroll for continental soldiers, which
was in William's possession. When William refused to tell where
the money was hidden he was killed, having only a hickory walking
stick, with which to defend himself. Elizabeth and Rasha
