Trish, what a lovely item for you to include in your family scrapbook! Thank you very much for posting the link. The photos look like drawings by that fellow who used to do the covers of the Saturday Morning Post or whatever it was called. 13. Carden Homeschool from 1953 [0.986473]
Hello List, My husband, Thor Carden, attended homeschool back in 1953 which was a sort of novelty at that time here in Tennessee. A Nashville paper published an article on them at that time. A couple of years ago "The Nashville Tennessean Newspaper" posted the old article on the web. I don't know how much longer it will be posted. I thought some might find it interesting since it is about a Carden family. There are several photos included in the article. http://www.tennessean.com/local/archives/02/05

That was really neat, Trish I just loved the narrative by Thor's dad Phil and the pictures too ! What a grand thing for them to do for their kids ! Something tells me that the 'Carden Academy' offered one of the best educations around, and would still be envied for its thoroughness & practicality even today. Thanks so much for letting us know about it. Martha Let's Keep Sharing The Truth... BETTER OLD HISTORY THAN NEW LIES -----Original Message----- From: Trish Carden [mailto:

21. Book about DNA [0.986473]
Santa gave me a copy of "Trace Your Roots with DNA" by Megan Smolenyak and Ann Turner, ISBN 1-59486-006-8. Paperback, not very expensive, the first "popular" book on the subject. I recommend it to anyone interested in DNA and Genealogy, and it will influence my next report on the Carden DNA Project (now somewhat overdue). Ann Turner runs the GENEALOGY-DNA list at Rootsweb, and I am a great admirer of hers. One of us (sorry, forget who) obtained an mtDNA analysis, which is of most interest to the fe
