1. Sacramento County Hospital Cemetery [1]
Greetings: The UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento was established at the old Sacramento County Hospital property in the 1970s. When the County sold the University the property no provision was made for the County Hospital Cemetery. During construction for an expansion project, contractors found human remains in the project zone. The body count has increased from 2 sets of remains to 28 sets of remains WITHIN THE PROJECT ZONE. The County Hospital Cemetery has been reported to have begun as 1 acre i
2. Re: My SMITH Brothers in Helmet - 1920 & 1930 [1]
You might consider the town of "Hemet", no "L". Of course just because I've never heard of a "Helmet" in Riv. county is no guarantee there isn't or wasn't one. "Hemet has one of the largest LDS Family History centers for quite a long way. Perhaps they'd know about non indians living on a reservation. Some of the reservations in Ca. are large in acreage, with only a few Indians who would welcome a friendly outsider to live or do business. They may have been working at a school. 5. My SMITH Brothers in Helmet - 1920 & 1930 [1]
Having found cousins & brothers, Leigh A. and William J. SMITH (both born in Michigan) in Helmet, of course I have questions. On the 1920 Heritage Quest Census it has Helmet, Mission Indian Reservation; while on the 1930 only Helmet. Could someone enlighten me here - was Helmet an Indian Reservation in 1920, and why would they and their families be living there? Their occupations are painters and fruit farmers. Leigh and Maude SMITH have 2 children, ages 13 (born MI) & 10 (born CA) William and Cynthia
