Sorry to be a 'sour puss' ....But, GlamFHS and ourselves have an agreement
NOT to give any information from their census, baptism, burial, indexes on
this list.
GlamFHS do free look-ups for members only, and the lists are not allowed to
give their information away.
Likewise as with our digital images, look-ups are not allowed from them as

Dear Cherlyn Bruns
The Carm. Jnl is definitely, and the Welshman probably, on file at
the Newspaper Library, [an outpost of the British Library] in Colindale, North London.
Check their website www.bl.uk/collections/newspaper
Copies can be searched in person, at no charge [but it can be a slow job]. These papers would not have run photographs [until the 20th century].

HI Anna
If they were born in Carms perhaps I could find them when in CRO....
You do not need to be a member to purchase any information from
GlamFHS....they are doing a fabulous job of indexing their county. We're at
their Open Day in Llantrisant on 12th July......
They do free look-ups for members, same as us.....
Pity our Davies do not cross......Pauline

Pauline- I received a message from David Cooke, Sr Archivist after
inquiring about birth records for Carmarthenshire. Without Rees'

everything I know about my Great Great Grandparents occurred after they
arrived in Scranton. Reese T. was a well known bard (his bardic name

I do look-ups from my own indexes which I myself own......as you know
yourself, I do look-ups from marriages, baptisms, burials, wills, bonds,
census returns etc.....others do look-ups from what they themselves have
done.....
This I do from my own vast amount of indexing, this is not what is in
question, as I own the publications.
What is not allowed is cutting and pasting from FHS's CD's and producing
onto the mailing lists......this is a very big topic with the Societies
involved. This is the

HI Graham
There are no instances of the name Lott or Lodwick/g baptised in Llanddarog
parish church 1813-75.
In my marriage database from 1754-1837 there are
10 male Lott
10 female Lott
mainly from St Peters....
Hope you and Theresa can 'link' up with your Lodwick/s...

Hi: In researching the Hughes family (Jac Ty Isha) of Tumble, Llannon I
have come across many references of "Carmarthen Journal", Sept-Oct-Nov-Dec
1843. Also "The Welshman" 1843-44. Where would the archives of these
papers be held? Are they accessible to the public? Did they have
photographs in these papers? Thanks for any direction. Cherlyn

Hi Merv
I am an 'old' Beulah boy now living in Builth Wells. Am interested in your queries re the Thomas and Bowen families. Can you provide me with further information- names of houses or farms would help.
Beulah did come under the parish of Llanfihangel Abergwesyn in the County of Brecknock. You should now contact thw Powys Archivist at Powys County Hall,Llandrindod Wells, where most of the parish registers now reside. I thought at one stage you were searching for the other Beulah in Dyfed until you menti

Hi Cherlyn
Sadly there is no census pre 1841 that gives names of householders....
Gwendraeth Valley.....this is another question, I know that the Gwendraeth
Valley Railway was from Burry Port/Pembrey ...to Kidwelly, Mynydd y garreg,
Four Roads, Ponthenry, Pontyberem to Cwmmawr....
Tumble was on the other line from Llanelly to Cross hands.??
The new cycle path have been made from these old tramlines, the one at the
end of our road here in Llanelli does take us up to Tumble....ALL uphill!!

Hi Elwyn

1861......digital images are available, but not for look-ups.....census
returns are too large to trawl through .....Llanelli being one of the
biggest parishes in the county of Carmarthenshire....

Hi Gordon from Llanelly (sunny today for a change...)
I have looked at 1851 census and this is the entry:

I will be getting a new e-mail address in a couple of days as we are changing ISP's (again, and FINALLY, I hope). If you send me an e-mail and then get a notice, never fear. I'll send you the new one as soon as it's up and running. Will be temporarily unsubbing from CFHS and will sign back on with the new address, too. I think they'll be shutting the old one down at midnight. We'll see!

Hi Pauline
Looking for the baptism of my gt gt gt grandfather, Stephen Davies, at Llanboidy about 1776.
In 1841 he was living at Rosemarket, Pembs. with his wife Margaret and their children.
In 1851 he was retired and living on a pension but the census entry is difficult to read so I couldn't make out where he was getting the pension from. He had died by 1861.
His wife Margaret was born in Pembrokeshire but again I could not make any sense of her place of origin on the 51 and 61 census. She had died by 1
