Gwenda, I never heard of them but a Google search will tell you where to
buy their recordings. The ads are in Welsh but it looks like Jac's name
might be SURPRISE! Jones.

Pat and Tony perhaps you are correct that the Evans family stayed in the same house from at least 1873 until they left Wales in 1882. The reason we know the house numbers changes was that we have the birth certificates of the three girls and each one is different, so the number change for whatever reason was supplied by the Evans themselves.
The houses were not part of a village but a row of houses on the grounds of the Aberdare Iron Works. Across the way, maybe 50 yards, was another line of row houses, Sc

Hello Sue
Do you know Robynne Dowd who is also looking into this family?
I have pasted below some of the conversation I had with her a while ago.
As you can see I suggested the marriage may have taken place in Swansea
as there was no record in the Carmarthenshire area.
I don't know if she has followed that up at all.
If you haven't been in contact with her then I hope the info below may
add a bit to your records.
Cheers

Hi all,
The list seems very quiet.
Are you all sunbathing?
Have just come across a chap on the 1841 census whose occupation seems to be
Hailer.
Would that be right or should it be Hauler?

Hello Pauline
I'm nor sure about all of Robynne's information which is why I copied
part of our conversation rather than extract parts.
I haven't come across Robert george Jones who she says was born about
1834 - he possibly died as an infant - especially as they had another
George in 1839.
However there is a daughter Mariane aged 16 in the 1851 census , which I
mentioned in my part of the conversation.
Re the birthdate of Louisa Evans - In the 1841 census she is shown as 30
in the 1851 census she is sh

Hello everyone - you may have seen this posting on the other Carmarthenshire site - apologies but I am trying to break down my brick wall.
I cannot find John Williams c 1834 collier from Llanelly and wondered if anyone else was researching the same family. His father was also John Williams - collier The main details are:-
Marriage to Margaret Davies 12 October 1855 at Adulam Chapel (John Williams senior was dead by then)
1861 census

Roger, on the earlier registers the mother is not even mentioned only the
father!! It was as if they were not important, after all they only gave
birth....:-)
Some registers were filled in after the event, they wrote entries on pieces
of paper then filled the infomation in at a later date, perhaps they forgot
to ask the mothers name....as you know BT's differ from the parish registers
and they are supposed to be an exact copy of the original which went to the
Bishopl!!

Hi Audrey,
I have an elusive marriage cert from the early 1850's, and after
receiving several
wrong certificates (with the related expense), have finally decided to
engage
the GRO's three-year search service. I just mailed the request
yesterday, so it
will be awhile before I know if successful.
I saved the email from the GRO explaining in detail what the
three-year search
service entails, and I would be happy to forward it to you, if you
like.

Hi Rina,
It seems that you are in luck. Nazareth Chapel in Pontyates celebrated its bicentennial
2 years ago (1803 - 2003) so at the time I purchased a copy of the booklet which was published
in Welsh giving the history of the chapel. In 1838, Nazareth Chapel had the same minister as
Ebenezer Chapel, Crwbin. Crwbin is a vil
Dear Listers
My friend and I are visiting Talley in August and would very much like to view the interior of both Gosen and Esgairnant Chapels. Can anyone please give me the name, address/or phone no. of the Ministers or anyone who might be able to help us. My relation was John Davies Evans who was the Minister of Esgairnant for 40 years so it would be wonderful to see where he preached and also to see if there might be a memorial in some form. He is buried in his home village of Abermeurig.
Any help wou

I have just looked on the index list, there are no baptisms for children
born to a David and Mary Morgan. I checked from before 1880 to 1903. The only
Morgan/s in that period were born to:
Morgan and Mary Morgan
John and Rachel Morgan
Rhys and Mary Morgans
Lewia Edward and Mary Morgan
Henry Morgan (I will have to check whether there was a mother mentioned on
the list)
I am sorry. I would also like to apologise for calling you Glenda not

Hello Pauline
Re your question on the Ffynnonhenri records--they are about 30 pages but very hard to read, but the Pughs and Davies's are strongly represented and mostly clear but I need to look in detail to find the individuals. I will be back in touch.
Meanwhile two questions for you. 1) I had said I would try to transcribe and list the 1841 Conwil census, I have started BUT I wonder if you have a special format such as Excel you prefer, if not I will use Excel.
2) Also--many times the farm name is

your own.
thanks Pauline

Hi All
I have transcribed several 1841 censuses, some with very poor legibility, so I was interested in the recent discussion on enhancing the images. I have tried doing this for some time using Paintshop Pro etc. a program which is excellent and which I consider to be just as good as Photoshop and at a fraction of the price. It is true that you can increase the contrast of these images so that parts of the text looks blacker. However in my opinion this very rarely increases the legibility of the text exce
Roger I have looked pre 1820 for children to George Jones and
forward......the next one I can find is
1829 29th June
Herbert son George and Sarah Jones, Hendy, carpenter
this cannot be the same George as the previous one, as this one is now a
carpenter, George Jones in 1820 was a labourer......
there are 2 George Jones marrying in Llangendeirne one in 1823 the other in
1827......there is a George Jones marrying in 1820 but in Llanelly perhaps
that could be him?

Hi Pauline,
I am seeking help on the births of my gggrandparents Howel Davies and
Elizabeth Davies (her maiden name).
They were married on 23/11/1842 in Llanwrda Parish Church, both of 'full
age'. The certificate gave Howel Davies' father as David Williams, father's
profession as 'labourer, whilst Elizabeth Davies' father as William Davies,
father's profession as 'labourer'.
The 1851 & 1861 censuses have given Howel Davies' birth year as 1820 &1822,
born Llansadwrn & Caeo, & Elizabeth Davies as 1821 &182
Hi Norma,
I hope you don't mind me replying to your US.Emigration.
I have been searching for information for my Llewelyn Family who left South
Wales about 1869.
I don't know from where the left but their destination was Pennsylvania.
David Llewelyn b 1839
William Llewelyn b 1844
Sarah Llewelyn b 1846
Margaret llewelyn b 1851.
They were all born in Llandybie,Carmarthenshire.
They left after both parents died
They were 4 of 9 children born to John and Sarah Llewelyn.

With a lot of help I've established that my great-grandfather was born in
1826 in Llangadog, married Sarah Rees first then Mary who was my great-grandmother.
I 'm not meeting with much success in finding out anything about his parents.
Any help would be appreciated.
