5. Re: CARPENTER, /zimmerman [1]
This is not the ONLY CARPENTER/ZIMMERMAN line as mine hails from Germany originally, migrated to PA. (Berks County) then on to Hocking Co. OH., then Indiana and many other places. Have hit a stone wall at the Carpenter/Zimmerman line as the name was changed from the original (Zimmerman) abt 1800. Need to find parents of Benjamin Zimmerman, my 4/g Grandfather, b. abt 1775, supposedly in Berks Co. PA. I guess I should have placed this reply at the end of the original note but afraid people would quit before t

8. NC/SC >ARK CARPENTERS [1]
Hello to All ! I have been moving & trying to keep up with work at the same time so please excuse for just reading my CARPENTER Digests tonight. First let me say that the first post I made, in response to an inquiry, was to possibly help give a lead. The information I posted was shared to me by Beth. Her uncle wrote about the LaGRONES FAMILY who had connections to CARPENTERS. This is not my line. (That I know of yet, smile). Since so many of you seem to have more info on this line, I am surprised no
9. Unidentified subject! [1]
John: I was reading through Domesday Book and found an additional reference to Durand Carpenter that you seemed to miss, or at least didn't include in your report to me. This particular reference seemed to me to be of importance to Carpenter history. It appears on p. 95 of the Then and Now edition for Moulham and reads, "Durand Carpenter, the king's servant". The fact that a Carpenter was a personal servant of William the Bastard was a complete surprise to me. One of the other references to Durand, an

This is my CARPENTER line, too, only my line came to Edgefield District, South Carolina, about 1804 and stayed! My paternal grandmother was a Carpenter from the Trenton area of Edgefield District, South Carolina, along the old plank road south of the Pine Log House on what is now Hwy 25. Her family moved to Augusta, Georgia, about 1903. I was born in Georgia, just married a Texan whom I met in Florida. I have been doing serious genealogy research off and on for over 30 years. In fact, I teach gen
11. Plenty of Web Sites & Surnames! [1]
GENEALOGY PERSONAL HOME PAGES Hi! I just added a page which is dedicated to all researchers who have a genealogy site on the WEB plus for those looking for a certain surname. This site lists surnames & genealogy personal home page links of those who are providing online information for their ancestors. I am hoping this page will let people searching for a particular surname find web pages with a matching surname without going through multiple search engines or webrings.
12. Re: Rehoboth Report [1]
Linda, thank you for this posting. I haven't been able to picture the country really; so far and so different from my West Texas grasslands and mountains....and only recently have I come to realize that Providence and Rehoboth are near each other. How far apart are they? I'm descended from both Williams, Wm of Rehoboth and Wm of Providence.....so hope someday to see both places. I think I'll inquire into membership in the Antiquarian society. Seems a reasonable thing for a Carpenter to do. ____________
