My Carpenter ancestor was living in Upson Co., GA and was on the 1850 Upson
Co. GA. They did not appear in the book because the census index that was
published placed them in another Co., So they could not be found by
Carpenter when he did his book. (He told me so.)
I located my ancestor by using family tradition that said they lived in Upson
Co., GA.

For all information
The 2001 edition of the Long Island Population Survey is now online
(instructions on how to access this invaluable report follow my name).
Coincident with the April 2000 Federal Census, there were 3 important
geographic changes made to the numbers and names of communities in Nassau
and
Suffolk Counties. These 3 changes were all in the Town of Southampton,
Suffolk County.

At the outset I should say that my interest in Alonzo Carpenter stems from
his marriage to Elizabeth Waterman, my great grand aunt. Bear with me as I
write this down on the form of a narrative. Ill be sending along
attachments to go along with it. Alonzo Carpenter married Phoebe Jane South
on May 2, 1852 in New York State. According to James South they had about
five children between then and 1860.
The Carpenter family first shows up in Wisconsin on records in 1860

I am searching out information because as a teenager, when I tried to get information, I was told that my CARPENTER family was HEINES, 57 different varieties. No one really wanted to talk much. So here I am, seeking info from complete strangers.
I will share with you the information that I have, and maybe you can help fill in the spaces.
Starting with my Grandfat

Dear Folks,
My name is Robert C. Carpenter. I am the author of Carpenters A Plenty. It
details a Zimmerman family which originated in Switzerland, the Alsace, then
Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and finally to the Lincoln County, North
Carolina area. The family changed their name to Carpenter in NC.
It is indeed a thick book and I do not encourage anyone to purchase the book
without finding out whether your family is included or not. I do not want
to sell the book to anyone who is not related. Too muc
Hello everyone
I have traced my Carpenter family back to 1815.
Three generations of wheelwrights in the Battersea area of London, all named John Carpenter.
In 1900 my great grandfather died after an accidental fall and his widow and 5 children came to Watford.
