Hi Carriers,
My Carrier connection comes through Celinda CARRIER b 1807 Livingston
County NY, died May 1881 Town of Barre, Orleans County, NY. She
married Lucius KELSEY 1837 in Genesee County, NY. On the 1880 Barre
census, the parents of Celinda were both referenced as born
Connecticut. IGI records list the Kelseys as Lucirde and Selwida
KELSAY but nowhere else have those names surfaced.
Lucius Kelsey was born in Vermont. Celinda's granddaughter was named
Eva Silinda. On the 1830 Town of Shelby, Orl

was the site of a Swiss colony. To this day there is a place called "Swiss

OK, I found Celinda's parents with no mention of them living in Vermont, so that
explains that mystery. Josiah was born in Colchester and died in NY.

Hello everyone:
On a recent business trip to Nashville, I was able to squeeze in some time at
Jane Devlin, list mother of one of the Conn. Roots web lists has spent
considerable time inputting the 1790 and 1810 census info for Middlesex, Conn.
I guess she tried to upload it to one of the genealogy sites but it was in the wrong
format or something.
Anyhow, she offered the data base to all interested and of course I grabbed it.
I extracted the following Carrier info and if anyone wants a look up for another
family name, let me know.

I was under the impression that Elizabeth was a daughter of Thomas and Nancy
Hatcher Carrier. I must admit though, I have been unable to find any proof
for this.

This was in Dick Eastmans latest newsletter. Someone please remind The list if
they see the show scheduled. I know I'll probably forget it until it's over.

Could you please point me towards sources of information (beginning ca.

Hello Marilynn,
Welcome to the list. Do you know who Celinda's parents were?
I've seen this Carrier family (from Vermont to Western NY) before but have never
been able to tie it back to the Conn. or Mass. Carriers.

Hello All,
Just thought I'd mention that the Sallie Carrier listed in the Mt. Echo
exerpt is most likely my Grand Aunt Sarah Catherine Evaline Carrier. She was
know as Sallie, and grew up in London,KY, with her parents John Henderson
Carrier and Margaret Melvina Chesnut. Sallie was born December 22, 1869, and
died October 18, 1930. Sallie had 10 siblings that I can list if anyone is
interested. In 1906 she married James Barnett, and had two children:
Payton C. Barnett and Margaret Vanlere Barnett.

While I usually don't like to see the list used for non-genealogical purposes, as

There has been a lot of news stories lately regarding virus's (or is it viri?)
"hacking" and unauthorized entry of evil doers into our computers. Most of us,
myself included, think it doesn't happen to me, but I've found out it does.
There are "firewall" programs you can buy from good companies like Norton and
McAfee that protect your computer from the outside world,
East Bernstadt is a short distance (15-20? miles) north of London, Laurel Co.,
