There has been quite a bit of interest on the Salem Witch rootsweb list the last
few days regarding organizing a central point for descendants of those involved in
the Salem Witch episode of 1692. This list is for both descendants of the
accused and the accusers.
Lori has taken the bull by the horn and started a site at www.myfamily.com.
I don't know if you can just go there and sign in or if she has to "invite" you in.
If you can't access it on your own drop her an email and she'll fix you up.
So, tho

YOU KNOW YOU'RE TAKING GENEALOGY TOO SERIOUSLY IF...
You are the only person to show up at the cemetery
research party with a shovel.
To put the 'final touches' on your genealogical research,
you've asked all of your closest relatives to provide DNA
samples.
You were instrumental in having 'non-genealogical' use of
the genealogy room copy machine classified as a federal
hate crime.
Your house leans slightly toward the side where your
genealogical records are stored.
You decided to take a two-week

Neal had some pretty good advice in his last post. And to tag along with
what he posted, I found what he had to say pretty helpful.
The following web site looks interesting. It lists several search engines
and rated each one as to its usefulness in searching genealogy.
http://www.feefhs.org/sesearch.html
I did a search on their site and didn't find any Carrier's but some of the
other researchers might find it helpful.
I was looking for German connections that my line of Carrier's have married

Hi group:
The following shows a notice of Sheriff's Sale of land. Included in this
listing is my
gr-gr-grandmother, Catherine Johnson Carrier, the widow of John C. Carrier.
He died c. 1865, as a "result of the Civil War." I have no idea what caused
his death. Catherine Carrier and her extended family all moved to Newton,
Jasper Co., Iowa, in 1877, after selling her land.

Not all counties and/or years are entered here yet, so be aware of which
counties and dates are covered when you do a search. If someone you are
looking for does not show up, the reason might be that their information
has not been entered into the database yet.

LEGGETT anyone? Can anyone tell me anything about the Leggett family?
This is the genealogical equivalent of placing an ad in the newspaper's classified
section that says, "Used car for sale. Please call for make, model, condition, and
asking price." You might get a response, but don't count on it.
Hello,
I recently received a deed from the Sullivan County, TN court house and it
proves that Thomas Carrier of Laurel Co, KY married Nancy Hatcher. It also
proves that Nancy was a daughter of William Hatcher. I thought I would
abstract it and share with all of you.

I finally got around to getting a copy of the 1860 Mortality Schedule of
Pulaski Co, KY. It shows the following:
on page 539 of the 1860 Mortality Schedule for Kentucky [this covers Pulaski
Co], Thomas Carrier is listed on line 21. He was 85 years of age, married,
born in TN and died in May of 1860 in District 2 of Pulaski Co. His
occupation was a farmer. The cause of death was given as age old. He had
been ill for 10 days.

I haven't had a time to really read this thoroughly yet but every time I hear of
mergers I tend to twinge in unmentionable places.....
