1. [CARRIER-L] My Carrier Web Page [1]
I've been fixing my web page a bit and have added some more pictures. Some are of Mary Ellen Carrier and her husband Frank Morris of the Anson Carrier branch sent to me by Lelah Achey. Others are some I took in Salem Mass. in 1997 on a short vacation trip there. Stop in and check it out. Neal F. 2. [CARRIER-L] Mormon web site search [1]
I just discovered something interesting about the name search on this web site. Maybe others are aware of it but I haven't seen it mentioned. If you put in a name say "Thomas Carrier" for all years all places you get quite a few hits. But the interesting thing is, if you put in the same name and restrict the years like 1626 plus or minus 5 years you get a lot more that don't show up on the first search, and a ton of them born in Wales. If anyone trys this and has the same results please post it to the

Just wanted you all to know that after posting the above note to Neal regarding the LDS search that included a reference to researching my Schnepp line, I received within 30 seconds a copy in my mailbox from the Rootsweb Personalized Mailing List. Schnepp is a relatively rare name so it is a joy to me that whenever that name is written on Rootsweb, as large as it is, I will get a copy--and within seconds! Jeanette

I don't know what programs the list members use to maintain their family trees. I started using Family Tree Maker (version 3.sumpin) several years ago but gradually grew dissatisfied with it. After joining the local genealogy club (The Mohawk Valley Genealogy Club) which was somehow associated with Parsons Family Origins and receiving a free copy of Family origins 6.x, I have been a strong fan of that program ever since. I started with 3.2 and last upgraded to 6.0 but then within 6 months 7 was out. I do not like to have obsolete software and it burned me they came out so soon with the new version. I have had absolutely no problems, but do have a problem with sending my database in for them to sell in perpetuity never to be updated. I am really glad to have World Connect from Rootsweb and recently became a monetary contributor. Have not sent in my database yet, but have finally gotten my database researched enough not t

21. [CARRIER-L] CARRIER (CARRIERE)--Canada, New York [1]
Hello, everyone, I am a new subscriber. I just read the archives and found a few people researching French Canadian Carriers. My ggggrandmother was Marguerite Carrier or Carriere or Cordier dit Belhumeur, b 1817 in Terrebone, Quebec, to Pierre and Marguerite Vaudry. Marguerite married Georges Malboeuf dit Beausoleil in 1838. Sometime after 1840 they emigrated to Black Brook, Clinton County, New York. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who recognizes these names. Barb in beautiful Hawaii

Neal, I don't find it to be true of Thomas Carrier or of any other name I searched that you get more hits with a restricted time range than with no time range. 15 hits for the restricted birth range vs 50+ for the unrestricted for Thomas. However, you can get more hits if you do not specify the event (birth) to go with the time range. That way you are getting births, deaths and marriages in the specified time range. Thanks for all your input into this website, I, like many others, don't concentrate on
