My Steele-Taylor relatives lived in the Galt-Clay area of California during that time. Could there be a connection? Jane Steele came from England and married George Nathan Makee in California. One of their children was Fannie Jane Makee who married James Oscar Taylor. They had three children: Mary Ann (Marnie) Taylor b 10/1872, Henry M. b 1/5/1875 and Harry Taylor b 1881.
