1. [CASANFRA] Dances at the beach [1]
In the late 1940's there were dances held at a dance hall, by Playland. They featured a lot of the big band musicians. I remember hearing Gene Krupa perform there. We were trying to remember the name of the place. Does anyone remember? Lorelie

Bill, that's outstanding! It means so much more when you can tie the landmarks to a name. Those old warships were such a step up. Teddy's big stick if you will. Thanks for sharing! I must also thank Bill for this wonderful submission. My Grandfather was around 11 or 12 at that time and attending Lick Wilmerding school. Sadly I never got the chance to meet him and this picture brings me a little closer to him. Barbara Checked the San Francisco city Directories, and from when the 1964 and when the 1966 one was printed they changed the Green's Eye Medical Group, and then are not listed in the 1967 one or any later. 11. [CASANFRA] Nellie Robinson [1]
Seems to me someone was just looking for San Francisco ROBINSONs recently. A cabinet photo just came up on eBay that has Nellie Robinson's picture plus a short family list on the back (hard to read from the scan). Her father was Robert Robinson, her brother, E.J.Robinson. It lists her siblings & mother (Anita, maybe) but I can't read it. You can query the seller if interested. Nice photo! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3229423636&category=13705 Just FYI! Jim

13. [CASANFRA] Alameda County Coroner's Reports $5.00 [1]
I was checking for someone about getting a Coroner's Report from Alameda County, on someone who died in the early part of the 1900's. Found out that they have the reports going back to some time in the 1800's. Not sure if they have them from 1853, when Alameda was formed or not. But the cost is $5.00, for them to look and copy the report. I am trying to identify a number of old photographs taken in San Francisco before 1900. If I can learn when the photographers who took the photos were in business it would help me to date the photos, but I have been unable to locate any information on them. I have found a reference to the following book but cannot locate a library that has it: "Caddick, James L. Directory of Photographers in the San Francisco Bay Area to 1900. 20. [CASANFRA] GGGrandfather's Death Notice States He Was Buried at Holy Cross, He's Not There? [1]
I thank those people who helped me with a San Francisco death. I did find he died in 1905 and death notice states that he would be buried in Holy Cross. The cemetery does not have a listing . . . could their records be incomplete? Also, his wife's death notice states that she would be buried there, too. No listing for her either. Has anyone else come across this? Is it a big cemetery? Katie from Michigan
