You can also e-mail the DoS Historian at

Dear List,
I am wondering if some kind person could help me with information
concerning two addresses in San Francisco.
The only address I have for May Kristina Holm is 1921 Fulton Street,
San Francisco in the year 1937. I am anxious to find out how long she lived
there and whether she lived there with her parents, Carl and Jenny Holm nee
Ostlund.
A sister Ellen Holm was thought to be residing at No 800 26th Avenue
San Francisco at the same time.
I know nothing about these two home locations and

Looking for JOSEPH PETER ETIENNE. He is listed as an instrument repairman in the 1889 and 1890 city directory. I had found one reference to him that listed his father's name as John and a birthplace of either France or Belgium. Unfortunately, I can't find that listing again.
Any help in this would be greatly appreciated! An address for death record or other news articles or such would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance!

Dear Group,
Does anyone know the names of the glass factory and nearby laundry on Folsom
Street which operated during the 1910's? It may have been around 14th
Street but was definitely out in the Mission, not "South of the Slot."
Several members of my family worked at both companies and since I'm in New
Jersey I can't get to the SFPL to look 'em up myself.
Thanks for any help,
Joanne Karetzky

I'm stumped! Hoping someone here can give me some good ideas how to
progress!
My great-grandmother was Marguerite (or Maggie) Tomsen, born in Denmark.
She married George Christensen in Hamburg, and their first son was born 1860
in Australia. I suspect they were there for the goldrush. Their daughter
was born in San Francisco in 1861, they may have been looking for gold
again!
My grandfather (who was well known for HIGHLY embellishing family tradition)
told that the husband was in the army in San Fran,
Everygreen (McAvey and O'Hara) definitely is. I just attended my uncle's
funeral there on March 8th, 2001.

Just checked out Su's eBay offerings - pretty neat! I think the scrabble
pieces used to id the different pieces up for auction is a stroke of
genius!!
How's the sight?
