Try to get an obit...if she was buried in your area, visit the cemetery
and see what information they have via burial cards, see if you can get
a copy of her death certificate...if she had children, see if you can
track them down to see if they know her maiden name...look in your
highschool book...etc....
Good luck...Judie

Hi Pat,
Are you sure of the wedding-in-England date of 1901?
In the 1900 census there is one John Sephton (age 32, b.ENG) in, in New
York. He is with a wife, Lavinia, and a son, Wallace (age1).
In the 1910 census there are 3 John Sephton's; in NY, PA, and IN.
In the 1920 cenus, there are 4; 3 in PA, and one in KS.
Also, in the 1910 and 1920 census, the only Sephton's listed in CA, have
these first names..
Charles
Chester
Edward
I checked the 1915 SF city directory and there was nothing for the
surname Sep

I am new to the list and hoping for help with my GRAY family. They were in San Francisco in the 1870 census:
Howard GRAY, age 50, pattern maker, born in Ireland
William GRAY, age 25, Sea Captain, born in Ontario, Canada
Martha GRAY, age 21, born in Ontario, Canada
Amelia GRAY, age 17, born in Ontario, Canada
They came to San Francisco from Ontario, Canada in the 1860s. I don't know what happened to any of them after that, I can't find any of them in 1880. Can anyone help find the marriages of Martha an
Would appreciate any advice/suggestions for obtaining a San Francisco, San Francisco, CA estate/probate record for someone who died in 1914. I have the exact date of death.

Hello, can anyone on the list check San Francisco city directories? I am looking for Howard GRAY and his son William GRAY. In the 1870 census, they appear living together as follows:
Howard GRAY, age 50, Pattern Maker, born in Ireland
William GRAY, age 25, Sea Captain, born in Canada
By the 1880 census I can find neither hide nor hair of them, and I can't find them mentioned in the San Francisco Call BMD index. Can anyone check city directories from the 1870-1880 period to see what can be found about t

O'DONNELL, Elaine Ann ( ); 71; ; SF Chronicle (CA); 2003-2-25
The obit was indexed thru the Obituary Daily Times
If this is her, if you don't have access to the Chronicle, I can get her
obit and that could be a place to start.

Hi everyone, is there anybody out there that has access to Australian death
Indexes? In Australia we can only access death records up till 1945. I
believe that in America the death indexes for Australia can cover up till
just recently. I am looking for a death of a George Charles Harlor or
Harler who died some time after 1950, in NSW. If anybody could help me
with this I would love to hear from them.

Maureen

I have been off line for a couple years. I am searching for a woman who
knew my Gt.Grandfather as a child, as he was her grandmothers Dentist.
She was kind enough to send me a picture of Dr. Edwin Waddell and her
beautiful grandmother. I never really got a chance to thank her before
my last computer died..
Hi,
I am seeking ANY information on Orland Alexander Sproul(e). He was born in
1860 in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. He was the youngest son of Isaac
Sproul(e)/Sprowl(e) and Sophie Hoffman. After Isaac's death, Sophie married
Augustus Weisheimer and moved to California. In 1890, Orland is shown living with
Augustus and Sophie at 204 Turk in San Francisco, California. By 1900, Orland
had left, so where did he go, what did he do, who if any one did he marry, when
did he die? Those are the questi

You are so dedicated! Thank you so much for all your work.
I have done hand transcriptions and they are a task. I can't imagine
transcribing and putting in a condition to place on the Internet.
God bless all the genealogy and history volunteers. I believe we are a
special bunch!

Sincere thanks to Judie, Chris and Stephanie, who each helped fill in a
piece of the puzzle. Thanks to them I have many new pieces of the puzzle to
work with, and I have a strong indication pointing to the missing

Am wondering if any Catholic marriage records survived the quake -
however I don't know which church (or Mission Dolores) John Patrick
Murphy was married in! His wife was Ellen E. (Nell), unknown maiden
name. She was born in CA (probably SF) 1875 and I have found her death
record and an obit, but no maiden name given. If the CADI does not list
parent names what are the chances of a death certificate listing them?
The marriage is not on the SF Morning Call list. Their first child
was born in March 1893
I wish to thank everyone who wrote saying such lovely things about my poem, "My Ancestor Grandmother", and especially to those asking if they could share it with other groups. I am very honored.

I have just received this from another list....a NY list. This is very
disturbing.
I clicked on the link below, and sure enough there is Ancestry, making
the announcement. Perhaps it is time to shake a few trees...gather YOUR
research, and not let it be sold. Is nothing sacred anymore??? Does
everything have to have a price tag on it??? What a shame.

Do you love transcribing genealogical material for California? Do you
believe there should be more and more free genealogical data online? How
would you like to be part of an informal group of like-minded volunteers?

I have been trying to locate a "cousin" Elaine Marchetti O'Donnell, and just
recently received word that she died in 2003. We attended the same SF high
school, a year apart, and never thought to figure out exactly HOW we were
related. We attended the same weddings, funerals etc. so it does seem to
imply the relationship as cousins is accurate. Now, I am the oldest in the
family, so I have no one to ask. I am assuming it is through her mother's
side as my background is Irish and her father was Ital
Attorney Henry H. Hask made arrangements for the funeral of Demetrio Papageorgopulos on 20 Oct 1916 at Olivet Memorial Park in Colma, CA. It is assumed there may be a will and probate, however does anyone know if old attorney records were kept in those days. I am told the SF county Bar Assoc.. might have some historical information or the County Law library.... does anyone have other ideas?

When convenient, could someone check the San Francisco City
Directories of 1896 through 1898 for an ELSIE WILLIAMS? It would also
be really helpful to know what other Williamses had the same address
at that time.
Thank you very much.

I just completed transcribing the 8th Ward, 1st Precinct in the 1870
Census for San Francisco County, CA and have it online. It was 184 pages
in length.
The 8th Ward, 1st Precinct was in the 47th Enumeration District in 1870
(which included EDs 39-57). It is my hope that it will help a lot of
people.
I believe from http://americahurrah.com/SanFrancisco/VotingWards.htm
that the 8th Ward, 1st Precinct was likely located in an area bounded
by on the (N) by Pine St., the (W) by Larkin St, the (S) by P
Hello to the lists,
After 7 years, I have found an apparent relative of my great grandmother,
Josepina KAJEROSKA Luedke on the ellisisland.org website.
When I first saw the surname of my great grandmother, it was listed on my
grandmother's death certificate as "GACFSKA" and found again on the death
certificate of her daughter Mrs. Emma Hood (nee Luedke) as "GAYSKA".
However, the original death certificate had her listed as surname KAJERASKA;
father being "Albert Kajerasaka", both born in Germany.

burial. Well worth it, in my opinion.
