FYI,
I finally received all the information I requested from the SCCHGS. Since
I complained, I should report when good stuff occurs. They found all that
I asked for.
Janet Pearson
Carolyn,
The SCCHGS charges $5.00 per name per item.. so if you are looking for an
obit and the biography for one person, it would be $10.
Here is their form:
http://www.katpher.com/SCCHGS/form.htm
By the way, I sent my request in Oct 1999, check was cashed in Jan 2000 and
I have yet to hear any word, so prepare to wait some time for your
information.

I was wondering if anyone's ordered a biography from the History of
Santa Clara County, by Eugene Taylor Sawyer. It says that its a
biographical sketch of leading men and women of the County who have been
identified with the growth and developement from early days to present.
I found my great grandfather's name on the list and am wondering if it's
worth my while to order it.
Thank you for your help!
Michelle
Hi Janet=
That is too bad they are not more responsive- the family files, the books
and the copy machine are right there in the same area! It should not take
long to get all the information together and mailed! Wish I was still there
to help folks.
The Merced Historical gathered the 6 biogs I ordered (via a phone call )and
I had them in my mail box in two days- they sent the request for the $3.50
with the Bios!
Thanks for letting me know the process- hope you hear back soon- maybe a
phone call from

for their attention to my requests. Once the right person was informed of the
problem, action was swift.

Hi Sheila and Dave,
I found the certs, but they were VERY DIFFICULT to read all hand written
and very faint. Even the clerks couldn't make them much better for
me...here goes:

bad copy)

informant J. M. Bardue Sunnyvale

place of death 1409 S. First Street San Jose CA
cause of death Pulmonary
I sent a check on December 11, which cleared on January 3, 2000. I have made
inquiries which have generated excuses but no results. Last night I requested a
refund. I would not use (try to) this service again and they should remove their
offer of research from their homepage.
