The happy young people are well known to our readers. Mr. Levens has been a
prominent businessman of our town for several years past and we all know him
to be an honorable man, a true gentleman, and will doubtless make a model
husband. The bride is the daughter of the late Peter Eiler, who was a

In 1902, Red Bluff was lighted with electricity for the first time in
almost three months. Its electrical plant had burned down Feb. 1.
In 1952, City Manager Phil Storm was fired at a Redding City Council
meeting. Councilman Bill Anthony proposed a resolution that the city
manager's office be vacated. Storm was not present at the meeting.

DWELLING DESTROYED
Last Friday morning the residence of J. McCuistian of Round Valley was
entirely destroyed by fire. Mr. McCuistian had been for a load of wood and
on his return when within about three-quarters of a mile from home he
discovered that the roof of the dwelling was all ablaze. He left the team
and started for the house, but by the time he got there, the building was
too far-gone to save any of the household goods. The wind was blowing from
the house to the barn,
OCTOBER 9,1918
Mrs. Fred hill was here from Ft. Klamath last week on a short visit, and
while coming down the road the creamery truck that was in front of her
slowed up suddenly and her car ran into it, damaging the radiator.
Louie Valardi had a narrow escape from death last Sunday night; while coming
up the grade out of Long Valley, his engine went "dead" and the car
commenced to rolling backward and went off the grade, turning over and
smashing the top and windshield, but fortunately not injuring him.

In 1902, Southern Pacific Co. would plant grass and palm trees on the
grounds of the Depot Hotel in Redding. A tennis court would also be added
to the rear of the roadmasters house.

The trial of the case of Gibbins vs. Trowbridge occupied the attention of

was taken under advisement. Tuesday a decision was handed down awarding
judgement to the plaintiff for full amount sued for.

was out riding with Miss Dora Kearns and Will Foster, when the horses became

the buggy and Mr. Foster was thrown out soon after, but both luckily escaped
