Keith, Glad to hear that you are still subscribing to the list. I realise that it is not the intent of the list to post personal messages, but considering the odd situation we have always experienced with trying to exchange email, I don't see that I have much choice. I was wondering if you might give me a call again sometime? This weekend would be great for me. The last time I was in Blighty, I was unable to get together with you and would like to talk some more about our family. Don't know when the
3. [CHASE-L] Your history may be closer than you think. [1]
Dear All, Today I found a secret place. There is an internet game called Geocaching (www.geocaching.com) and it is basically like treasure hunting with GPS (Global Positioning Satellite). There are caches placed or found all over the country. The secret place I found on the web is in Kansas City (on the Kansas side), and is the oldest continuous residence in Johnson County, Kansas, built around 1869. The reason it is interesting to others is because of its age, the reason it is interesting to me is tha

Art Cohan, who I believe is a member of this Group is the best person to contact at Art4161@aol.com As most of you will know the Sherman group very active. Art has a MASSIVE amount of information on them. Also, once again I refer you to "Ginger" Reeder and her book on the CHASE family. She has compiled an excellent section on the Shermans, Keith ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jeffrey Chace" To: Sent: Monday, May 20, 2002 2:21 AM Subject: [CHASE-L] Sherman
11. [CHASE-L] My apologies [1]
I just realised today that I have had suspect information on the welcome.html page of my website for a long time. No longer is Buckinghamshire given as the origin of Aquila and Thomas, and like William, are known now as only "from old Blighty." I have tried to rectify my error by directing new visitors to Poland. 13. [CHASE-L] Loads of new information at my website. [1]
Hello All, Major construction has gone on at my website lately and that is one of the reasons that you have not heard much from me. I hope you will come by and visit. http://home.wanadoo.nl/j.b.chace I have added a new Chace and Cornell Family Letters section which contains letters from Thomas Chace and from Elijah Cornell Chace, the builder of the house about which I have recently posted to this list. The section will grow as I have time to transcribe more of the letters. I have made a MAJOR addition
14. [CHASE-L] Problems reaching my website. [1]
Hi All, Art informs me that if you use AOL (and I assume this is probably true for other providers as well) that the http:// is added automatically. So, if you try using the URL I posted in my messages, you may have trouble. In most web browsers, the http:// part is not necessary anyway. I just put it in so that most email programs will recognise it as a link so you can just click on it. Maybe that has been a problem for some. (Oh, and make sure you spell the j.b.chace part with a "c") :) Hope that

Jim, Thanks a million for the pictures of the Elijah Cornell Chase House. I have posted them along with information about the house at my website. To find it, go to http://home.wanadoo.nl/j.b.chace choose "Chace and Cornell Family Letters" and then select "Letters of Elijah Cornell Chace." There you will find information about the house, a link to the photos that you sent me, and a letter at the bottom of the page which may be a record of the building of the house. 22. [CHASE-L] Message for Fred Chase and Peter Pike. [1]
Guys, I forgot to mention that you two in particular may be interested in the new section of my website about Cornell - Chace/Chase Marriages. Fred, I think I recall you telling me you are descended from William, William, Jacob. In the new section, you will find three Cornell-Chace marriages of descendants of Jacob. And, Peter, I found your Amos Kilton information at awt.ancestry.com and thought I would fill you in on a Chase-Cornell connection through him that I have listed at my site. Cheers, Jeff
23. [CHASE-L] Thomas Chace Sr; Calif. Executor Alonzo, and Burton Chace [1]
Jeffrey Chace asked - see his email entitled "Last will and Testament of Thomas Chace, Sr" dated 22 May - if I (being a resident of Santa Monica in Los Angeles County - and working in Beverly Hills) knew anything about Alonzo, the listed executor of Thomas Chace, Sr's, will. Alonzo died August 12, 1927 in Beverly Hills, California. I'm sorry, I don't. However, there was/is a prominent Chace family in the area - Burton W. Chace. Burton was an important, and long-term, Supervisor of Los Angeles County. T
24. [CHASE-L] Elijah Cornell Chase House - more information. [1]
Hello, I have had the great privilege of receiving an email from the current owners of the Elijah Cornell Chase House giving historical information about the home. They have confirmed my inkling that the house mentioned in the letter of March 4, 1866, about which I posted earlier, was indeed on the same location as the current brick structure and became the kitchen of the house. Additionally (WOW!) they have emailed me a photo (circa 1895) of Elijah and his wife Abigail sitting around with their family o
25. [CHASE-L] Last Will and Testament of Thomas Chace Sr. [1]
Hi All, I have just added the Last Will and Testament of Thomas Chace Sr. to my website if you are interested. What a fantastic genealogical source are wills. Thomas's will list all of his children and their locations. When my family decided to move from the safety of our ancient New England home, we sure spread out across the country. Washington D.C. is not so far away, but Kansas certainly is, South Dakota even farther, and California, clear on the other coast. Alonzo, the listed executor of the wil
