I agree about discussions and that is what I thought I would be reading when I subscribed to this list. This comment pasted below contains many ideas I would really like to know more about. And I beg to differ with the author of the statement but I expect those who know to give me a background with which to understand. I admit that my quest for knowledge of Cherokee culture started with the finding of my Cherokee relatives. Shouldn't that make me a better candidate to receive the information which you

Eni, Yep, I've been going to Jordan's site probably since it was put up on the web. He does have a penchant for finding the most controversial subjects in history! :-) I don't think the government will get too far if they are trying to find a DNA marker for Indians. First, it wouldn't be dependable, second there aren't enough full bloods left to find any REAL information, and third they don't have the guts to try something that overt. Least that's my opinion. These guys that depend on the votes to keep

Thank you RT This person was one that came over and introduced herself. She is the one to strike a conversation. I did not like what she was saying. We had our buckskin dresses on and we probably looked like a target or something. I don't know. I do know there is a lot of knowledge here. This is why I asked here. I have been on this list for a long time and seen a lots of things discussed. Thank you May the Creator light your path, and you will forever walk in Peace. ----- Original Message --

Of course all history books are written by WHITE people......is that a surprise?? How many Native Americans authored the history books that we and our children were taught out of??? That could go for any minority group in this country..History is one sided. Sheila Anderson-Lewis

Osiyo, A point that was thrown up in my face from someone when I said at 3/8th I did not feel qualified to serve as a delegate. John Ross, Principal Chief for the Cherokee before, doing and after the Trail of Tears was only 1/8th Cherokee. Is this true? And if so why do you think people feel different about amount of blood quantum today? That is one that has been kicked around in discussion at meetings. Some one said they heard that the Cherokee considered you to be Cherokee if you had one drop of Ch

Since the subject came up on another post, perhaps its time to post this one. It would be great for anyone to have a feather BUT don't take it any sort of gathering. In the United States it is illegal to own a feather of any bird of prey, or the body part of any such bird even if you find it in the back yard or if it falls into your hand. The only people in this country that are permitted to have the feathers are federally enrolled Native Americans, the only place THEY are allowed to get the feathers is
