First of all, through this particular lab, everything needed to do the test and return the materials to the lab, was mailed to my cousin who actually submitted samples for mtDNA testing. We shared costs and we

The project I administer is the Brock surname project. One of our members is in the Piqua Shawnee project. I did a recheck and we have one member in six projects and several in at least four. ----- Original Message ----- From: ewest14 To: cherokee-dna@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, July 20, 2007 7:19 PM Subject: Re: [CHEROKEE-DNA] Cherokee DNA again Hi What was surname on project and remember I am not a dna expert. We have made attempts in the past. Any return remarks he might make are cryptic...and almost non responsive. It's been very fustrating as I'm sure you can see. Wouldn't it be nice if they converted all this to common words since most of us do not have a degree in such things! I had the mtDNA done and I know my Mothers Mother was a Native American. I am not interested in where the strain came from 20,000 years ago. I had something more recent in mind as I am sure most folks do. I've been looking at the Brock DNA site and the person who was allowed into Dr. Tankersley's group is not a direct descendent of Jesse Brock. The paper trail doesn't work out to match with the DNA. The line was interrupted somewhere. Joyce Gaston Reece

Usually a DNA project will have their own website, or web page provided for them, where they post results and the lineages they pertain to. Also, Family Tree DNA, where the Piqua Shawnee project is located along with numerous surname projects, geographical projects and other Native American projects, allows participants to be members of more than one group.

So, in all essence Dr. Tankersley is privvy to ALL the test results? Are you privvy to them also? If not, is anyone else such? Do donars have a site they can release their results to if they so wish? Or are they submitting them to various & assorted surname test sites? How do you compare test results outside the particular groups? DNA can test only for NA heritage....not tribal heritage. Are there documented paper trails for your donars that verify either Shawnee or Cherokee? Have you and/or D

I was thinking some one was asking about a Indian School for girls that was near Talequah, Ok. My husband and I go to the E.R. in Muskogee, Ok. quite a bit and especially a lot more lately, anyway - while walking around I always look at all the pictures etc on the walls and the memorabilia. I had seen this picture of a School near Talequah before and now have the information. I thought maybe it may come in handy for someone. http://www.sekybrocks.com/dna/results.htm This George is #34465 His DNA doesn't match any of the confirmed Jesse Brock descendents. There is either an interruption in the line or the paper trail is in error. There's no other conclusion that one can come to. If he matches some of the private DNA data Tankersley has we wouldn't know anything about it. Now please don't take this in the wrong manner. I'm not upset nor am I trying to be agressive or hateful....I just wish to state a fact. There are s

Dear Awkoska/Fran, Thanks for your comments Fran (and everyone else who's been writing, too). I'm a gg-grandchild looking for proof of my gg-grandmother. My late grandfather told me about his grandmother who was Cherokee. Even my own mother claims she "never heard THAT story." But, other children in my generation, of brothers and sisters of my grandfather, know about her, too. We don't even know her full name. Right, Helen!! Front start to finish, some of us need a "how to" guide from A-Z. I'd love for someone to share that with us, too. We need someone who's done it to take us through from the beginning (I'd like to do this but, where and how to I start.) to getting that envelope in the mail that gives the the DNA results and how to understand what it says. --RoseMarie At 01:13 PM 7/20/2007, Helen West wrote: >Hello, > Maybe you could tell some of us who do not know, where you had your > blood wor
