1. RE: Re: [CHS] NBI & other transcriptions [1]
Hi Iain and everyone Of my Barlow great-grandparents 8 children, 5 died in infancy. Jane died in 1824, Mary Ann and William Simister died in early 1830, another Mary later that year, and Elizabeth had died before the 1841 census. In 1841 James and Martha Barlow were still living in Congleton with 2 other children so that the children who had died must have been buried there. By 1851 James, Martha and the 3 children were living in Astbury, yet when James died, in 1855, he was buried in Congleton, this bein
2. [CHS] St George's Hyde look up offer [1]
Dear Listers, Three months after ordering it the film for the above church has arrived. Unfortunately, I put the wrong last number, so have not got the film I wanted! However, I will check this one out and may be able to help someone. It has marriages 21st March 1910 to 1940 and burials 1832 to 1846. Please send me as much information as possible, I don't have time for blanket searches. 3. [CHS] Brindley-Land Tax Assessments [1]
Listers, I recently viewed the film of the above and made notes on the people mentioned. If you think you may have had ancestors there in this period I will check for them. >From 1781 to the early 1800s, the owner and tenant are mentioned by name with the holding. After this, just owner/tenant and tax paid (which I didn't record). I also have the list for most years of the assessors and collectors. One family, the Riders (Ryder) had a death recorded in Caryl William's extracts from the Liverpool

12. Re: [CHS]CLAYTON/GARNER [0.975373]
Hello Pamela Thanks for contacting me. All I have to tell me that William CLAYTON was born in Cheadle Hulme is the 1851 Census. He could of course have been born anywhere in the area and baptised at the parish church in Cheadle. As you rightly say some of the areas you are interested in such as Hazel Grove and Poynton are very close and so if you do come across any William's of around the right date I would be interested in sharing the details. William Snr married Alice GARNER at Manchester Cathedral in

14. [CHS] GRIFFITHS [0.975373]
Greetings All I am a new subscriber to your list. My grandfather William Hargreaves GRIFFITHS was born in Lower Bebington on 23 Dec 1882. His father, born 1856, had the same name, his mother Lily was born 1857, both in Liverpool. I would very grateful if someone could tell me if they were still living there during the 1891 Census and who else was in the family. His parents were living at 146 Hamilton Road, Everton, during the 1881 Census, but of course he was not yet born. He emigrated to Southern Afr
15. [CHS] BERTRAM MERRILL [0.975373]
Hi all, This message is mainly directed at Vic of the Cheshire FHS. It suddenly occurred to me to ask what Bertram Merrill's interest was in recording Cheshire marriages, do you or anyone else know the answer to this. Perhaps someone could ask him when he visits Cheshire. I know this sounds a little naive, but I did wonder if it was because he may have actually started by researching his MERRILL connections in Cheshire, as I have a marriage between an Emma Merrill and an unknown LEIGHTON, and would like

Hello James Many, many thanks for these URLs. A few of my family names are mentioned below, mainly KELSALL and I have recently discovered a remote SAVAGE connection. Neither in Cheadle but the families seem to be all centred around Sale, Timperley, Ashton on Mersey and now Cheadle. I will investigate the sites in detail. Once again, thank you. This comes from the Federation of Family History Societies and you can find their stand at the Genuki website. I ordered the NBI way back in MARCH and still haven't received it. Nor have I received any acknowledgment of the three e-mails I sent querying non-delivery. I am DISGUSTED with the FFHS. If they were running a private business they would soon go bankrupt as with such appalling and discourteous service they would lose most of their customers. I have sent an e-mail cancelling my original

I agree! Not all places are shown on a map. Especially parish boundaries! I had to have help with those borders many times. I took a person with a parish map (which you won't find on the net) to help me out. Anyone who takes time to respond to someone who needs help is an asset to the list! An article on Dates and Calendars appeared in the "Family History Monthly" magazine of January 2001. If you can get hold of a copy it is an interesting read on this, .
