Came across this site the other day as well as the Woodworker and Mariner site. As I am unsure which of them to use I am going to ask all 3 so if you see a repeat else-where you know why.
My grandfather (George Ernest LONGYEAR) served in the Merchant Marine during the first world war and his occupation was listed on my mother's marriage certificate in 1935 as 'Clergyman/Joiner' Can anyone out there tell me if there are any naval records available to view (such as Crockfords) which might tell me if

I am attempting to establish the genealogy of Richard Orchard who is noted
as the Vicar of St George's, Preshute, Wiltshire certainly in 1564 and
possibly continued in that role until 1579. I am attempting to establish his
genealogy as part of a wider project to discover more about another Orchard
from the century before. I am hoping that being a clergyman records may yet
still exist pertaining to his family.
